Thread: Pistoleer Targeting Old news but numbers....
Ok this is probably the deadest dead horse, and a great reason to move onto another game, but I'm going to take a stab at this, with supporting numbers this time.
Targetting was claimed to be "adjusted" while running, to attempt to keep people from kiting. Fine. Here are numbers that show it wasn't only during running, and affect pistoleers the most of all 3 ranged classes.
My character is a Wookie, with reasonably well balanced stats. He has Master Marskman, and pistoleer completed in 3 of the first 4 categories. I ran these tests on even-con mobs, and stupidly low level mobs. I ran it while moving, while standing, while kneeling, and while prone. Here are the results:
Running - Cupa Mob (white con) - Hit/Miss Ratio
I know this is old news, but I have numbers. They say the "adjustment" was to lower accuracy while moving, to prevent kiting. Nothing was said about general targetting going to C R A you know the rest. I have some numbers that are very telling. All tests were done using a pistol, from 60m to start. My character is a wookie, with balanced stats (not all health and action), and is 3/4 done with the first skills under pistoleer. He also has Master Marksman currently. Here are the results:

Anyone sensing a pattern? A total of a 2% improvement if I stand still? Oh and not to mention the huge amount of extra damage you take when you run from things that you cannot outrun unless you burst run, while missing them furiously. But I digress. My wifes crafting character is a pistol user as well, and we did this test with her character as well. She was a pistol specialist at the time, and not even a pistoleer yet. Funny thing was, she was actually about 5% more accurate than my character, which had at least 5 higher levels of accuracy and experience. It gets incredibly worse on very small animals to. Things you one shot. I tested around town, and was 98% consistently missing at least the first shot on lesser womp rats. 1 in 4 was hit the first try. 50% of the remaining hits missed even on the second shot.
So, it appears there was a general adjustment to all accuracy, and primarily to any attacks unless you are prone. Does this affect rifflemen? Hmm lets think about their skills. Cover is a prime example. What position do you need to be in to use cover? Prone is it? the 90% accurate skill? The ONLY accurate skill now? Carbines are also affected, but their range and damage are so much higher that the impact, while still there, is not as great. Besides, all the carbineers I know use full shot 2, which is just a mass spamming of bolts. Who cares if you miss 50% of the time when you shoot 200 shots? What skills to pistoleers commonly use? Can you say BODY SHOT? Gee does Body shot stream more than one shot, lowering the percentage of misses? I think not.
I'm sure this will fall on deaf ears, but the fact is pistol already has some huge limitations. We all use it from max distance, but with a huge degradation in damage. I dont have a hope in hell of hitting a mob to the health pool for 1k or more from max distance. My optimal range (read best damage range) is around 10-25m. Lets forget that a pistol is designed for closer (not close) combat shooting. No huge barrel to get in the way while you run. No 2 hand stance being required to hold it. Its designed to be used while moving. Now we cant. And since we cant hide long enough to kill a monster, unlike rifflemen, we are going to die a whole freakin lot more. Oh but I forgot. We were unfairly powered in pvp. Nevermind the game is 80% pvm. We would run and shoot those poor mele people who couldnt catch us to hit us. Did anyone ever think that maybe mele could attack while running? Tell me who hasnt seen this in real life! But no, they nerf us, way over power other classes, and give love to creature handlers. You can blast me for only doing 10 tests, but 10 or 100, what difference does it make. I am a master of a ranged weapon, that cant his anything for crap. Cant do big damage. Cant run and hit. Cant stand and hit without major healing or dying. But I guess I can become a CH, like everyone else. And have them stand there while I hide behind them to kill stuff.
Hmm....Sounds like Star Trek doesnt it? You will be assimilated. Resistance is Futile! Oh yeah, 12.95 please. And no, you dont get a goodnight kiss. God why wont Blizzard just release WOW......
Sorry I love these boards....Read up a message or 2. got a half post before I got the thing done. No idea how It got here. But i can say it...im a big man...

I have questions and concerns about your methodology.
First what weapon were you using? Where were its accuracy stats? What are your exact skill numbers?
But more imporatantly, what was the cu pa doing? One thing they did was make it harder to hit MOVING targets. I have a hunch this was overdone. But if that cu pa started running (or going prone) it's going to affect your hit percentage.
The carbines full auto 2 shot may look like 100 bolts, but it's still just one shot. Also, carbine accuracy still sucks up close and at extreme range, it's just good in the middle.
I'm not sure, but before this big patch didn't we all notice that we started getting less accurate at extreme range? If this wasn't just a delusion, it may have been a micro-nerf.
Now, I'm not saying that a lot of the accuracy modifiers are good (I think the making running targets much harder to his is a bad idea, and I think it's a dumb idea for a melee'ers accuracy to be crap when they're running). But I don't think these tests did enough trials in controlled enough conditions to really test anything.
I'd recommend testing vs another player.
