I have made the other eilte professions I wanted and have been deciding which ranged weapon to go with. I had all of master marksman filled (except for master) so I could get a chance to see all of them in action...

So I decided on pistoleer, because I PvE the most with my pets, so I need to hit the H bar the most...

after picking up the nov pistoleer last night, I will have 27 points left to spend...I figured going up the grips tree to lvl 3 to get bodyshot3, and that would spend 12 points, leaving me with 15...

what route should I go with the rest of the points? I have started looking through the forums, but I am just not familiar enough with the specials, or bonuses to know which are good/bad/nerfed/necessary/etc...

any info would be greatly appreciated...thx!

None of our skills and specials are worth a darn right now. Just stick with Novice or try another profession.

If you feel the need to climb Pistoleer anyway, stick with the tree that uses combat xp (I forget the new name) so you get the speed mods. Those are useful although you don't get much for the amount of combat xp required.

You probably wont get alot of recommendations from any of us for the simple fact that we have nothing to recommend at the moment. Basically we could not, in good faith, recommend anything in the pistoleer profession.

As far as hitting the health bar most, I am sad to say that nearly all of our moves hit different parts of the HAM bar randomly, so choosing pistoleer to target any one of them specifically wasn't well planned.

Body shot 3 is not as good as 2, so no arguments for attaining that skill level as of yet.

The only thing I can recommend is to get whichever skill gives you disarming shot 1, because at the moment it can be quite a money maker for doing missions where killing the lair and not the mobs is a priority in getting paid.

You should read through some of the stickied posts about the pistoleer skills. If you decide oin pistol, you may be waiting awhile before our skills are useful/functional.

That said, I've found pistoleer to be a decent complement to Creature handling. The specials are mostly broken/nonuseful, but the profesion is easy on the Points. Master CH/Master Pistoleer is obtainable, with a few skill points left over. I've got my extra spent on a little medic for post battle pet healing and wound treatment. Comes in handy in emergencies too.

yeah, I am trying to decypher through the posts...

so if BS3 is a waste, what skills actually do work well...and what does disarming shot do?

If you are looking to go pistols I would recommend going up the stances tree 1st. I recently got Stopping Shot and it does a considerable amount of damage (600-1200) and I used an aiming modifier on my weapon at which I was able to hit a target occassionally for 2200.

The downside: damage done is to a random pool.

I still think pistols are good in the PVE department. I am able to take out 2 Snorbals before needing a stim shot to bring my action back up. Can't say that for my carbine wileding friends.

Disarming shot does nothing

If you absolutely want to do pistol, go up the aiming line and the combat exp line for the mods and ignore the moves.

okay, my two bits. 27 points you say? Go up to the top of the third tree (used to be stances and grips, now may be tactics.) You want to get Fanshot. It is a fast firing multiple shot shot. I was kind of testing it last night(not gathering data but gathering impressions) and here is what I came up with. First of all I was moving around the whole time. We get a +30 to hit while moving so I figure what the hell, might as well use that. So i'm circling my opponent (pve) staying on the move so that he has a horrible to hit on me. What do you know, he misses me about 80% of the time he shoots. I on the other hand am spamming fanshot, baking off 5 shots every second and a half (seems about the speed, others can confirm.) Between 2 and 3 of these shots were hitting. So I was maintaining about a 50% hit rate while the PVE NPC was only hitting about 20% of the time. It was very good, let me tell you. So I highly recommend fanshot just for that, not to mention that it is a fast firing high damage (although random HAM) attack.

So there is 14 points gone, leaving you with 13. Now I suggest the first level of pistol spec abil. Some pistol sopeed mod and our KD attack. You now have 9 points left. With that you can get up to Marksman II for a +15 to hit and +10 while moving. Not great, but its a pretty decent bonus. You should be set. Ignore the grips line, none of the shots on that are worth anything, never use em, and dodge doesn't do anything either.

The best moves for Pistoleer are Body Shot 2, Suppression Fire (pre-nerf), and Warning Shot.

I'd recommend you go 0-3-0-4. That should result in the best overall pistoleer at this point. Disarming Shot/Fan Shot/Stopping Shot isn't appreciably better (and often worse)than the alternatives vs the lairs or vs the creatures.

Best is to go for carbine or Rifle if you cant wait.

Pistoleer is like nothing , yes its nothing but a waste of skillpoints. a Fubar and useless broken class ruined to unplayable.

I like pistoleer, it's really not as broken as some would have you believe..

I'm a ch that also uses rifles for hunting expeditions but for pvp or pve I always use pistols, the combo of bleed and stopping shot with pistol melee defence if someone tries close range attacks on you never lets me down. Like the guy a few posts up said, mod your pistols and you can get some insane levels of damage for a pistol when using stopping shot as well as a great rof to boot.
