Thread: Scout Blaster vs FWG5 (vs DX2)

Hi everyone!

I'm sort of new to the Pistoleer tree, and was wondering what weapon would best be suited for me. Currently, I carry a Scout Blaster (I forget the damange, but the max is in the 200s) with a unsliced speed of 1.2 .

I was wondering if I was better off with an FWG5 as an all-round weapon instead. Everyone I see in game and on the forums seems to be using this latter one (in fact, I've never run into someone else using a Scout Blaster), but I fear it suffers from a speed handicap.

I'm not looking to PvP - in fact, I spend most of my time either exploring the wild as a Scout. RP'ing or hunting a few creatures on my own.

And what of the DX2? I've heard so many mixed feelings about it, it's Acid capability, and its 7m range.

In other words, does the Heat and Armor damage that the FWG5 gives worthwhile, even when taking into account the slower speed (compared to the Scout Blaster.) And should I look into investing into a really good DX2 if I can find one?

What weapons do you all generally use?

Thanks a bunch!

Carry one of each and pay attention to the resists on whatever you are hunting. Some animals have high resists to certain weapons.

With the scout blaster ( energy), fwg5 ( heat), and DX2 ( acid ) you can pick and choose your weapons depending on the resist of the creature. I've been on hunts with people and the creature has 100% resist to heat ( if i remember correctly ) and people were using fwg5s and ee3 and wondering why they weren't getting XP.

So my suggestion is to pay attention to whatever you are hunting and it will be obvious what weapon to choose.

The same can be applied for the different armor types.

I carry all three.

The scout is my 'primary' weapon, because the ham costs are so low, I can spam specials. Also, I happen to have a much nicer scout than other weapons.

I carry one of each at all times. Currently the DW2 is my personal favorite. But that is because I have several very good medics I group with and we hunt Faambas on Naboo quite a bit. The DW2 does great damage against them.

Please change all references to DW2 to DX2.

I actually carry a DX2, FWG5, Scout and a tangle pistol. I find that with allfour of these in my inventory there isn't a creature out there that can resist me. Take each fight carefully and make sure to examine each thing you are going to finght and adjust accordingly.

I carry all three also. I do not use the scout blaster often but it can be really handy in the right situations. My DX2 seems to drop my HAM a lot when I use a lot of specials. The scout blaster is great when using a lot of specials, but most important is to use the weapon that your target has a vulnerability to if you want to maximize damage. The FWG is actually my favorite.

My Scout is hands down the best DPS weapon I have, the HAM costs are so low as to allow constant special usage, and it's very fast so I can use the special technical attacks, such as Warning Shot, very quickly if I get in trouble. I can even manage a Pistol Whip circle and hit several opponents with a chance to run away before they get a chance to attack me again.

I have an FWG collecting dust because the DX2 is such a great backup when on difficult planets with armored and largely resistant creatures. A Tangle would really round you out as an all around effective Pistoleer.

Do you have to be a BH to use a Tangle?

I have all 3 on the HotKey so I can switch depending on what MOB I'm attacking. I usually go with the Scout like everyone else because of the low HAM cost unless they have a Energy resist.

As the previous posters have said, always examine whatever you're fighting first to check for weaknesses.

That being said, I find myself using a DX2 exclusively. In my opinion, nothing beats those green beams and "acid" firing sounds.

The accuracy on a DX2 is very poor, though. In fact, I even went ahead and got a box of marksmanship as my first pistoleer box to help me out with that.

The HAM on a DX2 is also pretty high, but with the right tactics and timing with specials, I find that I fare very well, even with 2 or 3 critters on me at once. (Just be sure to have some stims if needed)

When the AR thing gets fixed, the DX2 will hands down be the best pistol to use with its light armor piercing capabilities.

So while a scout blaster or FWG5 would be a better pistol for now, DPS and accuracy wise, I just love my DX2 for its style.

I carry a variety, but keep returning to my scout blaster. It has the least varience so you haev a good idea of how ahrd you will hit, and its cheap to replace with another good quality scout blaster. Your FWG5 wears out (or you destroy it trying to repair it) then you may not be able to find another good one.

I have a really expensive DX2 that I rarely use. Basically it seems to do less dmaage than my scout blaster or FWG5, no matter what the armor of my opponent is.

Yeah, so true...I love those pistoleers willing to gain fast XP when they didn't even bother to raise their Scout skills...or just didn't try to "examine" their target. They are still amazed I can get 4K5 on a mob while 10 other ppl total was a poor 3K (yes, 300 each). The best part is when they beg me to store my pets on a 90% kinetic resistant mob, arguing they are XP stealer...

Well, for my part I think I have all pistols that are available in game (beside Scatter, everybody knows it isn't a "pistol") and like every tool I use, some fit better to a said situation.

My favorites are :

- DX2 (well...I like the green. Am I the only one that wonders why a green ray have red remains ? To me, this is the more reliable way to show how long the dev team tested this gun, really) for its Acid dmg add and AP1, of course.

- SR Combat when mob is AR and energy weak

- FWG5 but only for the look...oh, the Disarm Shot on the lair is fun with this one too

- Tangle Pistol for the stun dmg type, rarely resisted. No AP btw.

- DH17 because min dmg and max dmg are close, so it is a well known dmg output, no surprise here.

- Scout because it is very fast...but on Endor, mobs aren't really impressed by all the rays it makes and don't even notice I am hitting them, so avoided...

- Republic Blaster, because it makes me laught each time I try to put it in my hand...I am not CERTIFIED for Amidala toy, nice, master pistoleer after all...

I have DL44 and Power5 too but really, because I am a fashion victim. My CDEF is in bank, i won't argue here.
