the list of my certifications says im certified to use the republic blaster, yet when i equip the one i just bought it gives me the whole "you cant use this...damage will be greatly reduced" thing. ive looked back over the skill trees to find out how i got certified to use it, and i cant find it. maybe they changed something along the way. i dont know. if anyone has any input on this, please let me know.

It was an honest answer. The cert is bugged. No one can use it right now.

I seriously used the Republic Blaster last night (greenish blasts with a unique sound... no, it was not the DX-2). I equiped the gun thinking that it would not work and our Weaponsmith was curious. I ran outside and fired two shots (not amazing damage or anything) and killed the little vynock thing I was attacking. I told the people who gave it to me and the one's interested in it that it did work. I then went into my inventory to examine the weapon stats (like I said, I had just been handed it and hadn't paid attention to the stats) and the weapon was gone. It had simply vanished from my hand and inventory. I wondered if I still had it but couldn't see and went to attack the next creature. I was told it was out of range and I found myself trying to do hand to hand combat.

So... the thing is clearly bugged, but I did get it to fire two shots before it vanished.

So in answer to you question about who can use a Republic Blaster - Roarrk, but not anymore.

Anyone can "shoot" it. You just get that message that 'you don't have enough skill, so it won't be effective.'

The cert is bugged for everyone.

hmmm...as far as we can tell, the certification SEEMS to be broken but no one really tested everything since it looks to be a special weapon, maybe a faction weapon (yes, if you like one person and this person likes you too, you suddenly know how to use a weapon...perfect RP here).

The weapon reappeared in my inventory yesterday (a day later) and I was able to fire the gun again for pitiful damage I'll stick to my krayt-enhanced FWG and DX-2

I have one and use it... and yes it sucks because of the lack of cert.
