Thread: Body Shot 1 vs Body Shot 2
I am currently at 0/0/2/1 in pistoleer (less than 60,000 from Stopping shot). I have been fighting Huurton Stalkers on Dant. and I noticed something interesting last night. I have been using my pet to tank the Huurton and stacking my bleeds than spamming BS 2 to finish off the mob. After my first fight last night I switched to BS 1. Amazingly, my pet began taking much less damage in fights because I was killing the Huurtons faster using BS 1.
Has anyone else noticed this? Is this due to added delay from using BS 2? Or was this just a fluke since I only killed 1 and 1/2 lairs of Stalkers with this tactic last night?
I understand what you are saying ninja but from what I was see last night that does not seem to be the case. The Stalkers were going down quicker with less damage to my pet using BS1 than when I was using BS2. So although DPS over time may be lower, in the time it takes to kill a Stalker, BS1 seems to be a much better choice.
(insert name) shot 1 is always faster then (insert name) shot 2. using 1 makes your dps go higher but you are not doing as much damage per hit as if you were using shot 2.
That is incorrect. While correct that all level 1 targeted pool shots (Head, Body, Leg) all are faster than later versions, Pistols are unique in that each successive shot is worse than the one prior in terms of damage vs delay. For example:
Head Shot 1 Dam 1.5 Del 1.5 DvD 1
Head Shot 2 Dam 2.5 Del 1.75 DvD 1.43
Head Shot 3 Dam 3 Del 2 DvD 1.5
Leg Shot 1 Dam 1.5 Del 1.25 DvD 1.2
Leg Shot 2 Dam 2 Del 1.5 DvD 1.33
Leg Shot 3 ??
Body Shot 1 Dam 1.5 Del 1.25 DvD 1.2
Body Shot 2 Dam 2 Del 1.75 DvD 1.14
Body Shot 3 Dam 2.5 Del 2.4 DvD 1.04
So, if you can handle the HAM costs for the faster shot, it is Always better to use BS1 over BS2. Similarly, BS2 is superior to BS3 if you can handle the HAM costs. Again, Pistoleer is absolutely unique
Arrgghhh, double post.
Completing that... Pistoleer is unique in that they have increasingly declining special moves in terms of DPS benefits.
I wrote this up for my PA... hope it answers your questions.
First you need to know the way that SWG calculates your rate of fire.
(WeaponSpeed * SpecialDelayMod) - (WeaponSpeed * SpecialDelayMod) * (PistolSpeed/100)
And if result < 1.0s , result = 1.0s
Note: if your Speed mod is 100 or greater then you will be at 1.0 speed with ANY speed weapon or special.
Take a look in your skills screen to find your specific speed... Mine is +42 at the moment. So, for my FWG5 which is 1.5 speed.
(1.5 *SDM) - (1.5 * SDM) * .42 = my firing speed.
Using standard shot which is SDM 1 I get. .87 which rounds up to 1 shot per second.
Lets say average damage on the weapon is 70.
Damage/time = DPS
Damage per Second is 70 for regular shooting.
Now lets look at Bodyshot1 Its mods are 1.5 damage and 1.275 time.
My rate of fire will be 1.1 (or one shot per 1.1 seconds)
Damage will be 105 (base damage x 1.5).
DPS moves up to 95.
Bodyshot2 is 2x damage and 1.8 time.
So my rate of fire is now 1.56
Damage moves up to 140
DPS moves DOWN to 89
What? You say this can't be right... sorry. The facts are that you need to look at your individual situation to determine if a special move gives you better DPS. I just set up an excel spreadsheet to calculate the numbers and that way it's easy to plug em in and see what "special" moves are worth the HAM cost.
So, BS2 won't be useful for me until I reach +52 speed with my FWG5.. but if I use my Scout blaster or DX2 I have to recalculate all over again.
Once I had run the numbers a few weeks ago, I switched to using BS1 over BS2.
I used BS1 until I hit master, and then the extra speed made BS2 worth using.
Unless you go Pistoleer + BH Pistol, or have a very fast pistol, BS3 is never better.
Are you sure about this formula
(WeaponSpeed * SpecialDelayMod) * (1- (PistolSpeed/100) )
My limited testing on bodyShot1, 2, & 3 indicate
NetSpeed = WeaponSpeed * (1 - (PistolSpeed/100) + (SpecialMod))
My test was spamming the special 20 times and measuring start time and finish time. Then I vary the parameter byusing different pistol with different speed.
I'll post the raw data when I get home tonight. Just curious which is the correct formula or if my analysis is incorrect.
You'll probably want to turn on time stamping for messages if you're going to be doing testing.
