Quick question:

Is Pistoleer better with Combat Medic or is Rifleman. If so, Why?

I would encourage any medic/doctor away from Rifleman because they both need mind too much. CM for their heals and poisons and Rifleman for the specials.

So....

Are you saying Rifleman is bad with Doctor....or Combat Medic?

Both, seeing as how doctor/cm and rifleman use mind, they just wouldn't balance each other in whicha doctor/cm carabineer/pistoleer would.

What timing. I was about to post A question on whether anyone thought a pistoleer/rifleman combo was worthwhile.

I am master pistoleer and will nottouch that. I also don't think I could live without scout just for the exploration 4. I mastered support and distance in the CM line ( so 4-0-0-4 ).

I am now dropping my CM and taking up rifle to go directly for the blue lines. ( I figure why usecostly stimps, when a rifleis reusable)I can get quite deep into the rifleman profession. I have considered opening battles with maybe a spray stick or something to hit the enemy with a mind bleed, or possibly the multi target stun or dizzy, depending on the situation. Then whip out the scoutblaster and start throwing my fanshots at them. This tactic is all in theory as of now, what are you peoples opinions on this?

Honestly, using just my pistoleer abilities, I drop about 80% of my opponents so anything else i add from here is just gravy. I can still stay master medic and get most of the rifle attacks I am eyeing.

At master pistoleer, with a decently fast scout blaster, i don't understand why you wouldn't be using Stopping Shot instead. Ham costs?

I don't know, maybe I should try it out? I find my fan shots hit so fast, and are so effective at eliminating oppenents, why change my tactics?

It depends if eyeshot is removed from BH pistol line to master Bh or not. I have rifleman with BH pistol and the eyeshot pistol does mind damage to finish off anyone that charges me when rifle doenst hit or when i'm facing multiple attackers.

I hate to say that Galaticfreak but Riflemen isn't meant to solo anything, nor is the pistoleer. Our skills are "only" 92 points so we still have 158 to do something clever.

A rifleman should get at least CH 1 1 0 0 and Novice Medic. I don't understand a "sniper" that is crying his target is moving to him, this is non sense. A Rifleman is able to do much more dmg than a pistoleer over time (I prefer not even talk about the dmg in a single shot) once per second for 92 skill points...what do you plan to do of the others ?

Take a pet and try again. I can solo FULL PUBAM CAMPS with a GSP and Master Marksman with a rifle, so don't say Rifleman is broken : this can't be true.

A PURE Rifleman can't solo ? Let me tell you a PURE Pistoleer can't too. We aren't meant to be VERY competitive, we are just meant to use a type of weapon very well, this is ultra different. The game design is simple : you can't compete a 250 skill points used in combat guy with only 92, what is so hard to understand ?

In PvP, Riflemen are much more efficient than Pistoleers BUT Riflemen hope to be duelists and be able to kill someone that will use and abuse their weaknesses...NO, a Rifleman can't compete a Pistoleer in duel, this NORMAL. BUT the Rifleman is able to one shot several times before being killed in battles, which is MUCH better.

I am a bit tired of all these cries about how unefficient a Rifleman is. I am almost convinced that atm, nothing is better than a Rifleman that knows how to play his character and what he is for.

If you don't know how to play a Rifleman, try dancer.

I would think pistol would be better for a combat medic. you get faster shots, so less delay on healing things. and less constraint on your mind pool.

CH is of course crazy useful for everbody. but probably the most so for a rifleman.

king I am doing the very thing you are talking about doing. I Have have almost made it to the last box in the marksmen tree, (rifle specialist?). Let me tell ya RIFLES are slow as HELL and accuracy is a problem. Makes me wonder how a pure rifleman solos anything. Although im still in the marksman tree so maybe things would get much better if you climbed into the elite and went up the sniper branch.

I haveKilled one player that didnt see in me PVP with a rifle, one shot his butt with headshot 2, lol but he wasnt moving.

I like your theory as it parelles mine, -Mindbleed, Headshot X, Fanshot, fanshot, fanshot.....

For a riflemen to be effective you need to be NOT moving, which is key IMHO in PvP since the combat engine is so **edit** wonky. If you could use cover more effectively then things might be different.

So far I might get off headshot 2 before changing over to my FWG.

Heh all I can say to this is try playing a Rifleman (and I mean work your way all the way to Novice Rifleman and keep going, not just master the rifle tree in Marksman) and tell me you think they can still complete with Pistoleers. The HAM costs, downtime, and melee penalties are killer. As a former Rifleman who abandoned it for Pistoleer, I've found Pistoleer to bemuch more efficient andmuch more powerful with far less downtime. As I understand it, MASTER Rifleman > Master Pistoleer. But until you hit that point, Novice Pistoleer > Novice Rifleman every time.

Currently, MASTER RIFLEMAN are very dangerous, but that's a long, long road to climb. The Novice Rifleman is largely gimped and broken right now, and since that's where 80% of the current Rifleman are, they are largely broken and need some serious balancing. Until you've actually played aRifleman, you really can't talk (just as I can't say so and so class is gimped without playing that class).

Anyway, please don't take this as a flame, just wanted to offer my two cents as a player with a good deal of experience in both pistol and rifle. I've found Pistoleer/Master Medic to be an extremely rewarding and (as long as I have stims and mind) nigh invincible PvE template.

No knock on Rifleman here but to answer the original question.

A Combat Medic even at maximum range still needs to be under 60m from his targets...and that's at Master CM with some heavy experiementation in distance on the poisons/disease.

If you want to heal in groups (a very powerful position for CMs) then being an effective Rifleman may take you out of suitable range for your heals.

A Pistoleer allows you to stay 20-30m back from the tanks and throw those area heals. and is probably a smarter choice.

And as it was so wonderfully put, Rifleman Specials and Medical healing all take away from the Mind Bar, it would be your achilles heel.
