Thread: How random are the random ham shots?
They are clearly not 33%/33%/33% on health action and mind. Seems to me that on pistols its more like
Health: 50%
Action: 30%
Mind: 20%
Is this off? I have NOT done any testing... this is just "gut feeling" type of claim. Do these percentages shift around for rifle/carbine auto-attack and specials?
Thats about right. Basically what happens is the game decides you hit a random body part. Each body part is associated with a HAM bar. I think it works out like:
Chest, Shoulders - Health
Arms, Hands, Legs, Feet - Action
Head - Mind
The chest and shoulder areas are a larger target, thus you have a higher percentage of hitting these. And so on. You also will see this reflected if you are wearing a full set of armor. Whatever part of you gets "hit" that armor will will absorb damage to that area, then the appropriate HAM pool will be drained.
Thats why you can wear armor on certain parts and protect certain pools, like a Helmet to protect Mind.
It's totally random. There are six body parts which can be hit.
Left arm, body, right arm are health.
Left leg and right leg are action.
Head is mind.
So, you'll have 3/6 chance to affect health, 2/6 to affect action, and 1/6 to affect mind (50%, 33%, 16%).
My limited experience with carbine and rifle indicate the same ratio. Don't know about melee.
