Pistoleer Archive
Thread: You miss... You miss.... Ypu miss... You miss...
With the nerf bat beating us so hard today was it necessary to implement a more severe shooting while moving penalty. I cant hit the broad side of a barn and i only have 2 boxes to complete till master pistoleer.
Discouraging at best.......
here's a tip: stand still and shoot. Suddenly accuracy becomes great again! It was just waaaay too easy to hit and run at the same time before ![]()
There's one problem with just "stand still and shoot":
You are playing a network game. There is a delay communicating between the client application running on your machine and the server. The server often is "behind" in understanding what you think you're doing.
That means that if you are shooting while running, and then you stop, there will be a couple of seconds, perhaps much longer, that the computer still believes you are running. Ever try to "use" a travel ticket and you have to do it like 4 times before it goes? Ever have a very hard time positioning furniture in your home, having to redo the same command multiple times before it goes? That's because the server doesn't know you are stopped yet, and it requires you to be stopped to do certain things.
So -- now there is a penalty for pistoleers in laggy situations and when stopping moving. Whether this balances out as a bonus when you start moving on your client and the server doesn't know it yet, -- who knows. Just be aware that moving, stopping for a few shots, moving, stopping for a few shots, -- probably isn't as simple to judge the effects because you are playing an internet game with unpredictable latency.
Don't get me wrong, I think melees (e.g. TKA) are hurt worse by this problem. But that doesn't resolve the problem that the server needs to be WAY MORE FORGIVING when it comes to assuming you are still moving while that UDP packet makes its way from your client to a servicing thread on a server across the country.
Just my thoughts,

Stand Still....Hmmm... yea. Tthat works great now that we have no way to stop the targets advancement on us. I use warning shot to turntargets around but on bigger creatures at best it gives a slight pause. No matter what your skilll level you better be able to run. Ive been playing with War Grondas on Corellia and would love to see someone show me how they can stand still to attack these things. They can be easily outrun ( I've achieved wayfaringIV) I can stay ahead and if timed right i can get a big enough lead to actually stop and get off 1 maybe 2 shots then its off to the races again. I dont mind the running so much but the constant missing is just unacceptable, especially when i have titles like dead-eye and trickshot. Monsters are one thing but with a human opponent your either capped from afar or miss insanely using pointblank when they are on top of you.
We should get our accuracy back or in fact have it even better since we dont have specific pool shots. Ive spent two months at this and really do enjoy the game even with the nerfs . The accuracy nerf just makes no real sense considering that when grouped, if there isnt a melee'er amongst you , the pistoleer takes most of the aggro due to weapon speed. Now, taking aggro= track shoes time or death. I'm also seeing reports of riflemen and the sort being able to get their speed of shots down to the equivalance of the fastest pistol shot.... whats up with that?
Give us back our accuracy and let me dual weild and I'll shut up.
Im hoping the specials are fixed and defense will get fixed and the speed question will be addressed until then when you see someone run by screaming with a pissed off creature on his tail its probably a pistoleer.
I just said the same thing in Jaegen's new rant thread...
I seem to suck now. Mobs are more effective now and some hit me with state effects now when they never did before.

While kneeling 20m from the mob: miss, counterattack, counterattack, hit, miss, miss, hit, counterattack, miss........So at what point did my accuracy become great again?
