I've read a lot of posts about people using warning shot, but whenever I've used it, it's seemed pretty pointless to me.

What's the strategy?

Shouldn't this be in the marksman board?

Either way, this has saved my @ss more times than i can count. It seems like the success rate of this shot goes down with a more powerful creature though, which makes sense.

What I do is shoot the warning shot, and immediately after that is fired, hit the /peaceshortcut. If it doesn't work just repeat until it starts running away from you.

Make a macro

/warningshot

/peace

Then i start with my bled macro which applies healthot 1 and 2, followed by warning macro. Repeat till mob is dead.

I on the other hand start with the bleeds, get in a couple of bodyshots and then spam warning shot because it misses so much. When one hits, I hit my peace macro mapped to the P on the keyboard. Then they run away...when they get to 50 meters, I smack em again w/ bodyshots when they get close enough, smack em again with warning shot. If you have anything to stop them in their tracks in the meantime use it. AKA suppression fire. This will allow you every 30 secs or so to get in some good bodyshots without the mob chasing you.
