or is it a carbine that you can hold and use as a pistol?

do our specials work with this gun?

Its both. there is a DH17 pistol and a DH17 carbine. They both look the same.

Right - there is a DH17 pistol and a DH17 carbine.

Unfortunately they copied more than just the artwork and name from one to the other, resulting in a slight bug. The DH17 pistol fires like a carbine, meaning that the first shot stops your motion. When you run with a pistol, and start shooting, it doesn't break your strike. With a carbine (or rifle) it does. With the DH17 pistol it does... I don't know of any other pistol that does that.
