Firstly I'd like to say that I think Jaegen is awesome

One thing that I haven't read yet by him or any pistoleers (could be my fault for not reading enough threads) is that our attacks attack max range are too good. This is one cry for nerf thatI agree with. What are your thoughts pistoleers?

I think if BS3, as our only HAM pool specific attack, was made to be actually better than BS2, and our melee and dodge bonuses actually worked (so we could survive at close quarters where we will need to be to be accurate).....a nerf to our accuracy at ranges (say) over 32m or so would be well in order.

Is there a consensus on this?

I agree 100%. Accuracy is bugged, simple as that. But I hope we focus on getting our profession fixed first ... all but one of our specials is broken and we spit out less damage per second than rifle and carbines, so let's get the Devs working on that stuff and then we can ask to be nerfed.

Ah, perceptive. There are plenty of things I refrain from discussing, personally. That's one of them.

Some other reasons are,I will not volunteer my time to test accuracy, since it requires statistical volumes of logs. I spend a ton of time doing things already, and I ran accuracy tests in other MMORPGs and they just are no longer fun for me. Let the designers test it, it's not in my best interest to waste more of my time on things like that.

Furthermore, in the strategy guide, it's clear that pistols special attacks have the highest "to hit" modifier. The assumption is that pistols "hit" more often, yet don't have the mind pool attacks or area of effect state effect and knockdowns that carbineers have, and of course, have lower AR weapons (a clear tradeoff). Why they chose to use "hitting more often" to balance that out, I do not know. But the last thing I want to see happen is for the left hand to not talk to the right hand (about why that decision was originally made), and some knee jerk fix be done that doesn't take it all into account.

If we were actually TOLD what the game balance should be, we are smart enough to figure out what's working and what's not, and report it. But you'd be crazy to hold your breath on that one.

Since it's a game, and not real life, it's not always good to try and apply real world physics to a game that is supposed to allow for some measuer of balance, and enjoyment.

I would also like to see some serious numbers/tests posted before you go making the blanket statement that we "are too accurate at long ranges".

I miss frequently at over 40m or so, even using specialls. I would love to see some tests done with weapon stats, character skill mods and so forth posted.

I have a personal theory that there are 2 reasons why people think we hit too much at long range:

1) Pistoleer bonuses + Bounty Pistol line -- I suspect this is yet another case of the stacking of the two abilities making a mockery of the intended system (as it does with the +spd). I don't think that a ranged combat system where a 20-30pt differance was intended to be significant can stand characters with +100 or better accuracies.

2) Carbines (and to a lesser extent rifles) are being made almost exclusively only in their "cut down" versions. The emphasis on weapon stats is on all speed and HAM costs, so we are seeing carbine after carbine (and many rifles) with -60/70/80 modifiers at max range.

I wholeheartedly DISAGREE for the simple fact that our defenses do not work.

Im not a master pistoleer, and I havent gone up the Pistol Marksmenship tree. Right now, I missmost of the timewhile running, when shooting from more than 32m or so, and definetly when standing. When I kneel, I hit a lot more often, and even more so when I'm prone(But still miss a lot from long ranges even in these postures). I dont know how much masters hit, but I think they should definetly hit better than I do. BTW I'm a crafter, and have limited skill points. I'm 0 0 4 2 in the pistoleer line, and I'm not spending any more skill points on it until I see what they do with it.

One thing I'll throw in here, I think we need some status effects. Just my 2cr
