Thread: A Question of Sanity
To begin, I'd like to commemorate Jaegan88 for doing a fine and noble job as our pistoleer correspondent. Jaegan88 has brought maturity and rational reasoning behind our concerns, all of which, have sadly gone unanswered.I find it disillusioningwhen maturity and logic go unrewarded and unheaded.
The recent patch has entirely demolished the pistoleer profession.
Disarm2still costs an exorbitant amount of HAM, to do what, I don't know. I don't care ifthe Devstake away our ranged knockdown ability. Ifthey say it was never supposed to be included, I can handle that. What I do have issues with, is that they didn't replace it with anything. Every skill in our skill tree is worthless, with the exception of Fan Shot, which in the whole scheme of things, does nothing to save us. Disarm2 was the only reason to be a pistoleer, period.
I was hoping the "now working defense mods" would provide some compensation to our perilous nerf. Sadly, I tested this on a sole stormtooper, whom I could not even kill. I would imagine that a Master of any combat profession should be able to take down at least one stormtrooper, if not several. Perhaps the defense modswork. If so, they don't work well enough for us to survive and kill our enemy by spamming our only move, fanshot.
I would like some answers. Why are we not privy to posts from the pistoleer programmer? BE's get feedback directly from the programmer as do rangers. Do we not receive information because the pistoleer has no future? At this juncture in time, I am inclined to believe so.
I find myself oddly agitated by this morning's findings. I'm not in the business of paying money to be agitated.
It's been said that life's greatest stresses stem from things that are out of your control. Whether or not this game comes together is out of my control. Any control I and the other clients may have had, was and is thwarted by the Dev'signoring of our concerns. Holo mentioned the other day that the Devs cannot possibly keep up with the tacit understanding of the game we have. Why Holo, won't you listen to us then?
I understand this game is a business. With business comes deceit. If the Devs cannot accomodate the needs of all the professions at once, I can understand why they won't advertise such information. Surely, if Holo came on these boards and stated, "we willget around to fixing all of the Pistoleer specials in two months," all of the pistoleers would leave until their class was fixed. I know I would. But simply because they haven't not openly claimed this, does not mean it isn't true. Action is a form of communication, and right now, the Dev's actions are speaking louder than their words.
This game has great potential, but potential cannot be enjoyed. I think it's time pistoleers received some answers.

I agree 100% with your post. The bottom line is that our profession sucks right now -- no specials that are worth using, no defense mods, low DPS when compared to other ranged professions, no state changing specials, etc.
I also agree that we need to get the Devs to listen. But let's face it, they don't listen to us when we post "neutral" charts and graphs, and they don't listen to us when we calmly discuss our problems.
We're not the only profession that had this problem. The Commandos were totally ignored by the Devs until their correspondent quit -- and then suddenly on that day there were like 10-15 posts by the Devs on their forum.
We need to get on the Devs' radar screen. Reply to every one of their posts, complaining about pistoleer. Make a bunch of posts on SWG Discussion, and post links here so we can all reply to them and bump them. Send Holo PMs, which he says he skims.
The DX2 is a very situational weapon, at leaset on Starsider.I haven't seen one that compares very favorable numbers wise with a FWG. Maybe that's changed, I dunno.
You will however be glad you have one when you run into something that has high heat and energy resistance and your FWG or Scout is doing almost no damage. I'd suggest carrying all 3 myself.
I agree on the skills thing. With knockdown gone from the highend skill, and the pistol whip now a lot less effective (needed, but the fact remains), and Body shot 3 NEVER being as effective as 2.. what is the point of any of our skills?
