Thread: Question about Pistoleer Points Distribution

Ok, I need advice from you "oh-so" knowledgable people:

I am working towards Master Pistoleet at the moment, first advancing in marksmanship to get "Dead-eye" and hopefully the other skills to follow. Hereis my problem:

I am VERY discouraged about my proper use of points. I've worked so hard to become master scout, at the beginning of the game, worked on Dance 4, Ent. healing 4 and Master artisan. When I suddenly started becoming better with a pistol I decided to go master pistoleer and drop points in Entertaining and all of scout except Exploration (since I have to keep up with my PA on long hauls :smileyhappy and most of artisan. Oh, and Im also Novice Doctor, expecting to not expand beyond Wounds (no other areas) just so I can revive my fellow comrades.

Ok, so with doctoring and pistoleering, my issue is use of points. In the marksman field, I opted to do JUST pistol and ranged up to 4, then advancing to pistoleer. How important is Ranged as a pistoleer? Can I drop this line in Marksman and still be a good pistoleer? Something has to give, and I really dont want to drop points in other fields any more if I dont have to.

What exactly will Ranged help with, in marksmanship? I know the descriptions say aiming and defense. Does this effect all weapons in a general way and will it effect my pistoleering a lot? Does it effect pistol at all?

Please advise about this if you guys can. Thanks in advance for your advice

Ranged 4 isn't really helpful anymore, now that they've nerfed Suppression Fire, unless you get a Dizzy attack from another weapon tree (carbine, BH Carbine).

Keep the first three. I think that WarningShot is probably the most useful shot in the entire marksman tree. I use it a ton, both in PvP and PvE. In PvE if you want to fight melee mobs without using a pet or droid as a tank, use WarningShot. In PvP if you're fighting a CH, bleed his pet and then use WarningShot to send the pet running away. I love doing that.

Thanks Samra,

I havent made much use of warning shot in PvE mobs, but that has to do mostly with the fact that I rarely face mobs without my co-hunters bringing out the pets, but thats good to know for when Im alone. When you say keep the first three, do you mean Ranged 1-3 in marksman?

Thanks,

Right. I would keep them only for WarningShot, because it's so useful.

suppresion fire can be a life saver also. It a posture change which means if a mob is chasing u and it lands the mob stops cause its kneeling now, which gives u more time to flee.

its a good skill do not underestimate it now that its been changed it still efffective if you use it when its needed.
