Thread: Pistol Dmg survey
I got this paragraph from another post,
please be my guest and tell me whether this is True/False
Pistol bullets travel just as far and almost as fast as rifle bullets. The only reason it is harder to hit something at a longer range with a pistol is because the sights are closer together. The bullet also travels a bit slower simply because it is not in the barrel in front of a compressed column of gas for as long as it is in a rifle.I will give you the fact that my group will probably not be quite as tight with the trusty M1911, but again that has more to do with the distance between the sights being much shorter.
This post would have some merit if in fact there were bullets being fired from our pistols/rifles/carbines. We are using energy bolts, or lasers.
However, to go along with this, the reason a pistol isn't accurate in hitting long distance targets is because the barrel is short. The longer the barrel, the more spin is put on the bullet, causing it to cut through the air for amuch longer time, thus giving better accuracy. True, the bullet fired from a pistol may go almost as far as a rifle bullet, but no way in hell will you hit the target in the exact same area.
Proof? Read the books and buy the Star Wars RPG sourcebooks and you can find out for yourself. I dont give a crap how the SWG devs designed it, they havent exactly done everything to scale. Storm Commandos wearing black ST armor instead of black scout armor. Darktrooperes being white. DXR-6 being a carb instead of rifle..I can go on. Like I said I dont care how it is in game im telling you how it is in SW
