Thread: Ok I finally did it...

Took me a week given that I have a full time job but I bought another box of SWG and made a bounty hunter/pistoleer to try it out. Survival and trapping took the longest but otherwise it wasn't too bad. Certainly not as bad as the mastering smuggler with crap for pistol mods.

Wow. Here are my impressions from playing the alt around a bit. (I'm a master smuggler with pistoleer and commando and my alt is a bounty/pistoleer/creature handler dabbler).

BH Pistol is really way better offensively than anything in Pistoleer.Specials withstate changes, eyeshot of course, mind bleeds, fire states, access to a heavy weapon at novice... tremendous offensive package.

BH Pistol combined with pistoleer speed and stopping shot is out of control. I used to think last ditch was sweet... nearly 100% accuracy at 64m doing thousands of damage per second is sick.

The DX2 is 20% cheaper on your action bar than a scatter pistol. This really starts to hurt unless you get doctor buffs. I didn't realize this until I started actually playing a bounty hunter. I actually use a FWG5 on heat vulnerable mobs because of this...

If you can get Krayt dragon tissue or advanced NPC powerups for weapons a scatter pistol is dirt cheap to enhance compared to a DX2.

BH is really weak defensively. Really really weak. Of course, everybody is really really weak defensively since like 10% of all defensive mods do anything so this is really a non weakness now. Counter this weakness with a non creature handler pet like a rock beetle and you are set. My little mountain krevol tanks my investigation 0 red con marks for me like a champ andI have a fun fight and get paid 7k for my trouble.

Master Scout has 2 skill sink lines, but the ability to move fast, examine creatures and npcs for weaknesses, and the ease of dabbling into CH is well worth it.

My view: a bounty hunter when taken as a package is extremely fun and powerful. Taking bounty missions is sometimes long and tedious but the thrill of the hunt so far is more than worth it. Bounty hunter stacked with pistoleer and creature handling is obnoxiously overpowered.

My fellow pistoleers, here's my advice after trying both sides of the fence out:

Don't be too hard on bounty hunters. When defensives start working again bhs will not be overpowered taken alone as its own class. It really just is a hybrid of pistoleer, carbineer, and commando without any sort of defense. Any of the combat classes with creature handling is very competitive with bh when eyeshot is taken out of the equation. A master pistoleer running and gunning with superior aiming while moving and dodge skills should whipe the floor with a bh pistol 4. It will be a tough fight with a master bounty hunter as he will eyeshot you with impunity.

When defenses start working again, I think a master pistoleer will clean the floor with a bh dabbler without eyeshot... as it should be.

I'm sorry about the font. Its really not like me to do it but I can't stress this enough. The scatter and LLC certification is almost enough to justify it. With the state changes, special abilities, speed and accuracy modifiers...

If you can afford the skill points, seriously just drop master pistoleer, drop the dodge line until it works, drop the accuracy line, and go get bh pistol 4. Just do it, you are a fool not to.

Oh and get a mountain krevol or a rock beetle to tank for you.

Yes, of course it is overpowered, even BH admit it (talking about REAL Bhs, not those casual ones). If accuracy and speed are capped, we'll see a lot of BH suddenly disappear from SWG.

And seriously, it is the only thing I hope for this game now...no ultimate combo, just a question of preference.

Put a scope on your gun. That fixes a lot of accuracy problems without spending skill points.

FYI my alt's template:

Bounty Hunter 0 0 4 0
Pistoleer 0 0 4 4
Creature Handler 3 20 0
Medic 0 0 0 0

Tank: Graul Mauler for most uses, mountain squill, or other well rounded pets for non kinetic resistance fights.

Pistol Speed +109
Pistol Accuracy +115
Pistol Accuracy While Standing +15
Full suite of pistol special abilities, fan shot, stopping shot, eye shot, and of course torso shot.
2 Health Bleeds
1 Mind Bleed

Ranged Defense +15
Melee Defense +10
Defense vs Stun, Blind, Dizzy, Posture Change +20
Defense vs Knockdown +30

Scatter Pistol Certification
LLC Certification
Crates Stimpack B for self healing

How to annhilate in PvE:
Send in the graul
Torsoshot, healthshot2, healthshot1
Eyeshot to blind
Stopping Shot x 10, Heal action bar with Stim B, repeat (skip healing phase if buffed with a doctor)

Now you have a graul mauler attacking a blinded, burning, bleeding opponent who is taking a stopping shot from a 110-210 non krayt enhanced scatter pistol every second.

That seems more involved than my low-blow/last ditch/last ditch. Walk over and death blow.

But hey, if it works for you, it works for you.

I'm glad you enjoy the low blow LD LD and pray technique... for me, I enjoy doing PvE the way I described.

Yes, I can solo krayt dragons easily with my smuggler. I also think its boring as hell and I certainly don't think feign bleeding 5 fambaas or whatever is a good time.

PvP is idiotically borked. I find PvP to be neither fun nor particularly challenging. Almost any pvp activity I get involved turns into a clone war at the end until the commandos show up and everybody runs around with black bars. GG

If you're dumb enough to PvP close to a cloning facility that's what you get. Smart PvP players are moving engagements away from cloning facility.

PvE? That's so last week.

I enjoy PvE still. Your mileage may vary.

FYI, a scoped launcher pistol has 0/+8/0 on its accuracy modifiers My krayt launcher is a fun time for the lowblow + LD spam technique. Plus I have the option to revenge TEF grief people I don't like with a 35% damage sliced flamethrower

Smuggler 5, Pistol 04 4 4, Commando 0 0 3 0, Medic 0 0 0 0

I'm strongly considering Smuggler 5, Pistol 5, Marksman 5, Medic 0 when they fix up master pistoleer.

For krayt hunting, really the only thing that matters is either having feign death, a mauler, or some AT-ST. Without any of those three, it's a death wish. Being a bounty hunter, or pistoleer, or anything else for that matter doesn't really factor heavily into the equation. Personally I grief enough bounty hunter/pistoleer/creature handlers at the krayt graveyard for pretty much all of them to hate me lately. Something about dragging 3 krayts right on to them....

The scope on my FWG5 gets me an extra 0/+10/0 on accuracy modifiers. Even blinded at 20m I can still hit a moving target as the last bounty hunter I met found out.

Luckily the game is not all about soloing Krayt Dragons hehe.

Why do you grief people at the krayt graveyard? Do you enjoy griefing? Are they taking your kills? Once a guild of rebels decided it would be neat to take the dragon I was almost done with. It's pretty easy to clear the area when you can bring three more and feign... as they found out after ignoring my offers of cooperation in the area. Not much I could do when a guild of Imperials showed up with 4 AT-STs though.

FYI: I only burn that way in PvP to people that won't leave me alone or are abusive. Something tells me you actually enjoy the griefing process though...

I enjoy killing players in general. A 2 sided war leaves me with a lot less targets than I'd like. As a smuggler, I use Underworld to switch sides weekly to assure a wide trail of bodies on both sides. I dream of a 3rd faction so the target selection can be a little wider than it is right now.

I am a PvP player at heart. The PvE stuff is so bleh. It's the same thing day after day. Health shot 2. Health shot 1. Spam some other crap in between. Players on the other hand use terrain, heals, class combinations, and equipment to provide an environment that is continually challenging.

And yeah. I love griefing.
