Ran into some NPC's nightsister? or something like that for the firts time the other day. I was shooting like mad until I realized they were 100% resistant to acid damage. So I switched to my FWG5 only to find out they were resistant to heat also. I examine them to see they only appear to be open to energy weapons.
Any suggestions on a enegry pistol that has armor piercing and decent damage?

Honestly just use an advanced scout blaster
Yeah you will do 50% per hit but ... its like a free cost for specials... I'm sure you will do fine.

SR Combat pistol is energy based and AP 1. I use themon Pikets all the time when hunting on Dantooine. I do a lot more dmg than with my Scout Blaster.

Really? Interesting... the advanced scout blasters are SO much better than any SR combat pistols on Kettemoor. I'll take another look.

My scout blaster on Starsider has a 1.3 speed and...I think something like 30something to 130something dmg? Not the highest damage in the world but I can spam specials like no tomorrow.

i always use a DH17 for energy. but everyone else seems to use the scout blaster. is there something i'm missing about the scout blaster?
my DH17 has 93-146 damage and 1.1 speed. how is a scout blaster better than this?

The DH17 pistol is based off of the DH17 carbine. So, it shares the "stutter-step" problem that carbine users have when trying to fire on the move. You will actually stop moving everytime you take a shot with a DH17 pistol, be it a special or autoattack. Thus, your mobility is reduced and you give opponents the chance to catch up to you. It is a particular problem due to internet latency effects and the large melee range that npcs have the game to make up for that. A Scout Blaster doesn't suffer from this problem and so is a better choice for the "run-and-gun" style of most Pistoleers.

Wait till you see a Nightsister Stalker. 100% resists to everything except Blast and Kinetic.

ahh, thanks a bunch for that information. i just assumed all weapons stopped you like this, but now that i think about it i haven't seen it on any other weapon.
time to get a scout blaster for those run-and-gun moments.
is this effect intended?

There is debate as to whether the stutter-step is intended or not. I think carbine users feel it's a bug. It might be there to prevent rifle users from "running-and-gunning" and it got carried over to carbines as several of the carbines seem to be based off rifle templates. However, carbines seem to also been intended to control opponent mobility to a certain degree making the stutter-step a problem for a profession that is supposed to be mobile in and off itself.

The Republic blaster is an energy pistol and is armor piercing. However, the certification is broken.
