Is it a FWG5 or a DX11 or whatever you get at Novice?

FWG = More Max Damage & No Armor Piercing.
DX = Less Damage & Light Armor Piercing.

Everybody is going to say FWG5 or DX2. And these are excellent for auto-attack.

However low HAM pistols like the scout blaster are in a league of their own and really throw the equation off.

I can spam Stopping Shot for a very prolonged period of time without a significant hit to my action pool when I use a Scout Blaster. I will incap myself quickly with a Scatter pistol. A little slower with a DX2, and even slower with a FWG5.

So really, when you lookat the scout you need to determine if after all is said and done (armor, resists, etc) that your elite pistol is really doing better for you than that trusty scout blaster

If you are heavily armored, not doctor buffed, and are using specials as intended (i.e., not spammed but used in delicate moments), you need to evaluate your weapons like a carbineer. Take the best damage/second pistol for the right damage type on the mob you are fighting.

In PvE, I use a DX2 or FWG for nasty advanced mobs with excessive protections to energy. Otherwise I use a scout blaster.

In PvP I always use a DX2 or FWG.

For the 20974987324th time : there is NO best weapon, all is question of DMG Type / AP vs Resists / AR.

Once you all will understand that, you'll how better you can be.

what dyriel said.

you should have scout blaster, fwg, and dx2 hotkeyed. examine each creature you're attacking (until you've memorized which one is vuln to what) and use what they're either vulnerable to or less protected against.

using a dx2 against something with 70% resistance to acid makes it look pretty crappy.

using an dx2 against something that's vulnerable to a acid makes it look really good.

My pistol is used as a sidearm for my RP and since im a Rebel, Rebels arent issued any of the other pistoleer weapons. I use a DL-44. The catch? It's not as bad as the 'uber' weapons you guys love to use.

I have two

1st one = 65-278 1.9 speed 16/32/12 HAM +42 @ 8m

2nd 46-217 1.4 speed 16/32/12 HAM +42 @ 8m.

I love my DL-44

I really wish they'd make the tangle and SR usefull. The SR is especially cool looking, yet the stats and range are horrible so it might as well not exist, same as the tangle.

Tangles are great against almost any opponent with composite armor once you are at the speed cap

Problem is that some of these guns are limited to 48m
