I am short on skill points and was thinking of surrendering the support branch of the markmen tree. How important is that for pistoleer? I was thinking of surrending the 4 block there and use it in the pistoleer support tree...

Any suggestion?

I like to use Supression fire and Warning shot everytime a player sic's his pet on me...Usually it gives me enough time to gun down the player and then take care of his pet.

related question. Now that knockdowns are back to being usable again, does this lessen the need for warning shot? Seems you could slam a knockdown and get out of dodge, just as easily as firing a warning shot and moving.

I'm in the same boat, those points in marksman just make me itch

Even with knockdowns more usable, Warning shot still has several advantages to it...

- knockdown has a timer to it and requires you to be at close range for one.

- using PMD1 seems to really tick a creature off and have them latch on to you.

- warning shot tends to not only drive the creature away, but also if being attacked by a pet or tank, tends to get the critter off you and onto them

- warning shot is incredibly useful in groups when someone like your doctor is being attacked and you need to help him from across the battlefield by using warning shot to drive the mob off him.

For PvP, yes, PMD1 is going to be far far more useful to you. For PvE, PMD1 works best as a last resort attack while Warning Shot is great at all times.

As for the Ranged Support line...if you don't need IV as a requirement for a profession(Commando, Squad Leader, Master Marksman), or don't have the skill points to spare, then don't bother with it. It doesn't hurt at all to have it otherwise, but if you need the points elsewhere for something, then let it go.

In my case, as a Master Ranger, Master Scout(by requirement), and soon to be Master Pistoleer, since I want Warning shot as is, I might as well keep IV because once I'm done mastering pistoleer I'll only have 5 skill points left, and there is nothing more worthwhile to spend my points on...so Ranged Support IV is worth it for me.

Hi buddy.

just my humble opinion, but drop it (Box 4-Sup. Fire) like a hot brick. I dropped it about 2 weeks ago and haven't missed Supression Fire in the slightest.

Now as to the 3rd box (Warning Shot)-keep it and love it

Warning Shot has saved me and my critters tails more times than I eveb dare to count!

See you in game,

Thanks for this post. I was wondering about this myself as I, too, will be running short of skill points when I master pistoleer (long, long way to go....ooooo maybe they'll have the profession fixed by that point..Yeah right! keep dreaming...lol). I had to pick up Novice Medic again since I get myself into trouble at times soloing missions and trying some of the quests.

I know that this may seem like a dumb question to most but what's the difference between a threaten shot and awarning shot? Also, what's the point of box two? Aren't these kinda similiar to the roll, dive, and kip up shots in the pistols line (but actually work)?

Oh, and one more question... What's the best way to arrange your hotkeys so that your shots are more effective? For example, do you have body shot 1 and body shot 2 next to each other?

I confess, I'm new to the profession also....currently working on Novice. I plan on mostly doing missions, quests and grouping at times. I'm not into the PvP yet but I know that it willhappen eventually.

Ok, back to work...
