I almost have enough Pistol XP to get one box beyond Novice Pistoleer. I was planning to get Intermediate Pistol Tactics, in order to climb that tree first to get BodyShot 3 at Expert.

In the meantime, all I get is PointBlankSingle2. How effective is it? I've found PointBlank1 to be worthless, but maybe I'm using it wrong.

Also, am I stupid for heading up this tree first? Aside from the combat XP line, where you get PistolWhip, the only other thing on our tree worth getting seems to be BodyShot3.

It's kind of demoralizing to know I still have 700k more pistol XP after this box just to get BodyShot3. It makes me wonder whether I should head for Bounty Hunter pistol instead.

I would personally get stances and grips first. Stopshot does huge damage to arandom ham bar (I got 1300 once) It's great for pve, and it should help you get xp faster in order to get bodyshot 3.

Pointblank1 shots, both area and Single, where quite effective. I'm thinking of going for pointblankarea2, because I still use PBA1. While it took a lot out of me, you can take down a lot of people with one shot sometimes. Man can't wait till multishot.

It's true.

The main problem with it is the range. At 12m range, you have similar problems that melee professions have with lag and such. You're generally better off using a special that is usable at any range so you don't have to worry about "am I close enough yet???". Same reason PMD2 isn't used. Plus, getting too close to that rifle user might enable them to whip out the knucklers and put some master TKA on you...which you dont want (for example). Or worse, a flamethrower. That's one reason TKA and commando are fairly popular choices to pair with rifle.

The other problem with PBS2 is the HAM costs are pretty darn high.

the other day when pvp was borked i noticed 2 things, one was when you targeted a pet and used fan shot in a melee , it appeared the non targeted pc's that were fighting were taking 200-300 damage when last ditch with a krayt pistol only generated 135. the second was multi-target shot appeared to do good damage, only in pvp tho,( is mts aoe?if so possibly same issue) anyone else tried this since they fixed pvp? (cable down atm so i can't check)
