I am a Pistoleer 0/4/3/3 and a BH 0/0/4/0. I have been hunting in groups on dath for quite some time, but I cant seem to find that same sweet spot on my own.

What do ppl hunt solo while they are near my level?

I haven't had to grind weapon or combat experience in a long time, but I just wanted to note that solo and group hunting are definitely very different.

Solo hunting, you need to have a tank or be a tank, in order to get good experience off high level monsters. Otherwise you're probably better off just killing a ton of lower level monsters.

At some point the abilityto kill a "ton" of lower level mob's is not easy. The xp cap will really bite you. I am also CH 1/1/0/0 and have a GSP. My tank is there.

Thoughts??

I solo on Dathomir quite well. I always take missions of 21k or higher, and the only tank I have is the humble rock beetle. Together we can cruise thru these missions with little difficulty. I basically use the same system, and it works well enough that I cannot remember the last time I was incapped in the field.

I am a 4243 pistoleer BH 0040 and Novice Medic. The only missions that ever give me trouble are the Bolmas and thats more due to the warping bug than their relative strengths.

Here is what you will need.

(1) High Quality Weapons, get advanced models at a minimum and if the choice is between speed and damage go with damage. Always examine the creature and pick the best weapon for the job.

(2) 36% Max Damage 36% Min Damage Powerups. Get a few cases.

(3) Good Stim B's, over 400 heal. Get a few cases.

(4) A tank pet that can last. Forget the damage he deals. Go for armor, Ham and resists. His job isn't to kill things. Just last long enough for you to do it.

(5) Stopping Shot and Fan Shot. These 2 are the mainstay of rapid pve experience.

Go to Dathomir and take 20+k missions all except for Bolmas. Pull with pet, never yourself. If you do get a large multiple pull it is harder to get themall to agro on the pet if your the one pulling. The second the mob agros have your pet follow and run back away from the lair. Many times you can break up large spawns into bite sized chunks doing this. Once your about 100 meters from the lair have your pet attack one of the following creatures. If more than one, immediately have your pet attack the next, then the next, etc. At the same time start applying all your bleeds to each of the soon-to-be victims. While doing this make sure you are at least 20 meters away from the fight if not farther. The fight can shift suddenly and put you into melee range.

When the bleeds are applied to the Mob(s) start your damage firing. If there is only one mob spam stopping shot, and use stim B's to keep your action up. If there are multiple mobs use fanshot. In almost every case you will drop them fast.

Heal your pet and move on to the next mission. I can usually do 6 missions an hour if I get them close to the trading center and not run into any difficulties. If your pet gets any kind of state effect such as poison or disease, immediately make a camp, and store pet in data pad then take him right back out again. The state effect will be gone, and you can heal him normally. Saves alot of frustration and downtime trying to out heal poisons etc.

Hope this helps.

Or if you want take a rock beetle to the southern Endor outpost and head west for a few minutes. Everything there gives between 2500-3600 xp and is pretty easy to kill with a bait pet. Those boar wolf lairs give sweet xp if you clear the whole spawn and blow up the lair afterwards, as do the bolle bol stompers...

c_rotius, if you've for the pistol xp, get fanshot.

  1. have the gsp attack the brackaset lair

  2. Watch the brackasets swarm the GSP

  3. spawm everybody with fanshot from your scatter pistol.

They'll all die in like 25 seconds.

They are right in that having the fanshot (aoe) option is critical for pulls with multiple opponents, since you have the potential to have a tougher pet than my humble rockbeetle he might last long enough for you to take down the mobs one at a time. I still would not recommend it. It would still mean longer down time healing a higher ham pet. Getting Stopping Shot and Fanshot should be your highest priority for this type of Pve.

When it comes to Bolmas, what you were told is half right. Bolmas are lower ham, they do not deathblow, and they have no nasty poisons or ranged attack. One would think that this uncomplicated creature would be the easiest. This however is incorrect. The danger the Bolmas pose is in the difficulty of breaking up the spawn. Many times you will end up pulling the entire spawn around the lair no matter how careful you are. This is bad enough, but with fanshot it can be managed as long as your prepared to heal your pet alot. But what really makes these missions dangerous is the AI of the Bolmas. In order for this techniqueto work you need to centralize the pull around a tough pet, bleed them quickly and Fanshot (Aoe) them to death before your pet dies....Bolmas however missed the memo, and they love to run. What starts off as a multi-creature gold mine of experience becomes a massive FUBAR with 3 accelerating Bolmas taking your pet off into some nether region at a speed you cannot hope to keep up with. This of course leaves 2 or 3 behind who absent your pet, now look at the lone pistoleer that has been making them bleed. Whichnow meansyour running for your life. Did I mention Bolma's are fast? Forget burst run. Burst run speed is like a fat guy in the Chicago Marathon. The crowd cheers him for the effort, but he aint gonna win.

Of course Bolma's don't death blow so after a few cursing minutes of Incap you stand up and find your pet that has been flattened like a pancake and start the long process of healing him back up. At best in the end you will have a bunch of bleeding Bolmas which will be fairly easy to take down, then you get to go through it 3 more times as you slowly take down the lair. Can it be done solo? Sure. Is it worth the time and effort when you can get missions that spawn no more than 6 mobs which pay out about the same and can be managed easily? No way!

Lately I have been hunting Nocous Kamuriths which poison but are easy to manage. Basically I will take any 20+k mission on Dath except for Bolmas.

hi fastgun, your description of the bolma missions is 100% identical to my experiences with them , infact a few times while they were running around they got other spawns of bolmas involved so i had to kill two spawns worth of bolmas for one mission. i will definately try the other missions next time, thanks for the info.

hi, can you give some examples of what missions to take on dathomir ( over 20k payouts). i went to dath for the first time a few day ago and i had been told to only pick bolma missions as apperently they are the easiest. i did manage to finish a few bolma missions but downtime was quite high as i would get incapped at least once or twice per mission.

p.s. i hunt solo with a gsp and i am a master gunfighter.
