"I still remember the first time having a scout mob in Daoc spot my group and it ran off, we thought nothing of it, 5 mins later we were all dead because it went a long way off and brought back a veritable army to wipe us out. I was floored, that's the kind of AI i want to see, not mobs with more health etc.. "
I was impressed too, till I discovered that the scout was intantaneously given 100% immunity to all damage/state attacks. Then it just became cheezy. Instead of it becoming a cool 'ok, this place is dangerous, we have to take out the scouts before they can report back', it became 'a scout spotted us, run, because there isn't a **edit** thing we can do about it, as usual'.

It's people like you who give BH's a bad name.
Its Dabblers like you that dont deserve the title "expert bounty hunter". And because of Dabblers like you, get perfectly good skills nerfed too oblivion.
How many marks have you killed to make you think you are deserving of this title ?

Pistol melee defense failed 4 out of six attempts against bolle bols last night. That discounts multiple uses withing 30 seconds on a success, but not on a failure (but it may be that a failed attampt to knockdown still counts onthe 30 second timer in which case the rate was 2/4). I never tested the 30 seconds precisely but spamming does not work. Damage doesn't seem to be improved but vastly reduced, but that could be luck, my previous high PMD against a bolle was 517, high last night withwas 258, but that is with an FG so damage is highly variable and I only made about 10 attacks (including hits within the immunity period). It did not fail in any other uses (against non-bolle bols) so they may have knockdown resistance.
You guys have summed it all up here with quantitative info. Let me just give the dev's some overall qualitiative info. Right now I have to agree with everyone in that the pistoleer profession is a bit of a joke. My expectations were to have skills and modifiersfar beyond any other pistol wielding profession. This is simply not the case and I was really disappointed to fight a con blue Jabba guy and had to stop and stim myself twice. I should have leveled him without loosing 3/4 of HAM. Same thing goes on damage amounts - saw a master swordsman pulling 1K hits per strike. I also saw a BH use a lightening gun and pull about that much as well. I have fought stormtroopers who have wasted me while I did about 20% dmg using my, *cough* killer DX2 pistol.
The whole profession just feels really weak.. I want something to be proud of after all the work that goes into mastering what is one of the most difficult professions to skill into (because or ability to DMG and stay alive is pathetic) in terms of XP required.
You should change the name from Master Pistoleer to Master B*$er at this point
Greetings, all.
Here to put in my two creds on another one of the pistoleer topics in hopes that the devs might actually see it (market saturation, anyone?).
Anyway, all joking aside, the primary problem with pistoleer, IMHO, is that its melee defense is incredibly weak, especially considering the fact that the new range penalties for using a pistol at anything greater than 20m result in having to close with a mob to actually hit it. Needless to say, since most mobs are melee combatants, this can best be described as a Bad Thing. Or, more accurately, suicide.
We will now recess while the chair calls for volunteer Master Pistoleers willing to attempt to solo (without pets), a lone Tatooine mountain squill.
No takers? Not surprising...
Let's face it,havingto close tonear-melee range with a powerful mob (or even an only moderately powerful one) frequently results in character death for Pistoleers. Unless their melee defense (or just melee defense while using a pistol in general) is beefed up, it makes PvE a joke. And that's not even considering PvP; yes, no sane Pistoleer will close with a Master Swordsman in PvP, but that 20m accuracy limit makes that inconsequential. If you're a Master Pistoleer shooting at a Master Swordsman while running away, all it will take is one little tap on the burst-run quick-key for that Swordsman to close to melee range. He'll be on you before you can respond with a burst run of your own, because you were already extremely close to him thanks to the range penalties.
Scratch one Pistoleer.
Another one bites the dust.
Rest in pieces.
He's dead, Jim.
Etc.
I think this illustrates the need for a stronger dodge or other static melee defense to make Pistoleer a class to be proud of again (or at least a class not to be ashamed of).
- Raytheon Kednallen's player, Shadowfire, anaspiring Commandowho still has some small hope that the time he's taken to acquire his Pistoleer skills will not have been in vain.
hello I am a novice pistoleer; 0,2,2,1 and I do not see what you guys are conplaining about. I love this profession. I have killed Kimogilas with this profession. I mean all you need to know is what your limits are, and what you can do then do it before you attack. You just can't run into thing and hope that you will succeed. You must have a plan of attack. I can't wait untill I get this profession mastered or close, and if not all then I might start on the Bounty Hunter profession. I'm doing about 500 to 1000 dam every shot and killing things before they get to me, (except for Kimogilas,I just run like mad away from them while using knock down).
See you Later in game,
