yeah pistoleer is where im headed from rifleman, rifles suck, you take have anyone thats closer that 15m without missing, then 2 hits from melee and your done for. also since i cant take any melee damage i have had to get a pet and let him take the damage, so my rifle takes out his mind and the pet takes off health, why go against my pet.

Nicely done. I fit into category 10 myself. I knew that pistol xp could be used in a variety of skills and that I could start leveling without having to decide on my template immediately.

I used to use carbines with a BH, worked as well if not better then pistoleer in PvE and PvP. Fire Knockdown was unstoppable, and crippling shot from Carbineer profession was as deadly as stopping shot/double tap/whaterver high damage shot. The only differences between crippling shot and stopping shot are that it takes a good deal more HAM to fire a crippling shot, as well as fireing at a slower speed.

Unfortunatly, since the ranged knockdown rarely knocksdown the target anymore, carbines have become fairly useless. The large HAM costs also hinder the class.Carbineers simply have absolutly no benefits over pistols. It would be nice to regain some kind of advantage again, at least something to make the two equal. As of now I've dropped all carbine skills and am currently working up BH pistol and pistoleer skills.

I'm speaking from experience above, but from what I've heard rifleman are less then happy with their skills as well. Again, I see no advantage to being a rifleman. Something needs to be done so make the different ranged professions more unique.

Excellent work Jaegen.

I'd like to add the following reasons as to why pistoleers are so popular:

1) anyone who starts out in the medic profession is almost forced to use pistol since you can only heal up to 6m. Ever tried healing a brawler or Master TKA? What they are fighting is less than 6M from me too.

2) Doctors, still only heal up to about 7m. Pistol makes good sense.

3) Combat Medics, until you are close to a Master level you really need pistol to be effective. If you decide to switch to carbine, (and you're usually out of skill points by now) you have to drop pistol and start over with poor carbine weapons and skills. So... you won't be effective or live very long against the creatures you normally fight....thus most CM's stay with Pistol.

4) PvP. Small encounters, one on one, 2 vs. one, and most dueling, happen at close range and are over very quickly....Pistol has the best close range and quickest firing time.

5) Healing in combat for medic types is quicker with a faster weapon. It's bad enough that healing yourself has a longer delay and takes longer than healing someone 40M away!!!!
