Thread: Whats the most powerful or useful pistol attack?

Darth, don't get me started on the new pistol melee defense, grrr.


Here's how I'm presently using it: as defense, how ironic!


/pistolmeleedefense1; /pause 0.8; /peace;


If you go to peace mode after you knock them down, they don't get back up instantly. Makes zero sense, I know, except for the god**** balancing @#$%. Anyway, knocked down, you can run away.

DarkestSoul do the math. Lets take you gun , Fwg5 53 / 246 2.1 delay. Since I put a power up on Dh 17 lets figure same for yours. Best on gorath is 32% max and 16% min. This would then make your gun 61 / 324 2.1.


Ok to figure avg dam per sec of gun 324 -61= 263 divide by 2 = 131.5 add min dam of gun 61 = 192.5 this is avg of gun dam. Now divide that by delay 2.1 and you get get round out answer of 91. That is what gun avg dam is per sec.


Now when we use the same math on my Dh 17 the results are 134 avg dam per sec. As for stopping shot or fan shot again note with my gun and pistol speed of +41 I get on shot off of fanshot once every 1.5 secs. The only way stopping shot can do more is if you are near or have maxed pistol speed, since as of now irreguardless of modifiers no shot combo has a delay of less than 1 sec. If they go forward as proposed and reduce pistoleer delay to .5 and server delay actually allows top end pistoleers should be able to double their dam output.


The only annoying thing about proposed delay of .5 is the fact it will not help balance us with BH at all since a savy BH need onlyy train as pistoleer novice to gain same benifit

OK I don't see a DH17 pistol on my server... So tough to look up stats and test... I email some weaponsmith to see whats up... But to go back to my fwg5pistol I wrote down the stats here they are for sure.. 48-241 1.6speed (with krayt tissue no powerups) reg. pistol made with no tissue 52-199 2.0speed..ok where did you get your DPS formula? just wondering...

Fine LOL so I added an extra step was also being somewhat simplistic in showing the math ) In the end we both get to where we are going even if men never bother to stop and ask for directions. P

for me the best attack is /lowblow /lastditch .p

yhea master smuggler and pistoleer ( 4404 on the way to master o.O ) here .p


I use a fwg5 , it was 50-200 @2sec got it sliced for 31% dmg and using a power up 32%max 16% min it gets somewhere to 350 dmg ....


it can hit in pve for over 3k ,p but it can be low as 900 or even 700 in pvp .) with last ditch ...


but i last ditch only every4 seconds now , litle bit slow .p ( hoppe master pistoleer will make it faster ) don't know if stopping shot is faster ?


also i'm using health shot 1&2 ... do a knockdewn befor, it'll hit for more dmg ... higher bleed .)


and i still use bodyshot 3 ! yes 3 .p in pvp if i see a low helath bar .. u get a better dmgwith it ... dosen't meanany thing if u willdo more dmg with 2 bodyshots 2 if the target healshimself duringthe two shots .)


and did i said i hate eyeshot lahm0rs .p

Yeah, it is pretty sad that to be the best in pistols, you pretty much only want novice pistoleer and one pistol box at most. But that is the way things are right now. If, and its a big if, the devs implement the changes to the combat system and to pistoleer, then Pistoleer will have its purpose. If the changes mentioned in other threads go into effect, the pistoleer line might not give you the highest damage output, but it will give you lots of speed, high defenses, and the ability to deal decent damage to multiple targets at once(fanshot and multi-target changes). Those changes, and fixing the other broken stuff will, at least, give pistoleer a purpose.


The big things that are hurting pistoleer right now are defenses being worthless(which takes away the biggest disadvantage the commando is supposed to have) and lack of truly effective pistol attacks(be it either high damage, or multiple targets with the damage output we have now). We get both of those, or even just working defense with no broken attacks, and pistoleer will deserve more consideration by those looking for the "best mix".


Basically pistoleer is mostly useful for one thing only right now outside of those two skill boxes...its great for other professions who want enough combat to be able to play a role but don't have the skill points to spread around between bh and the like. In other words, pistoleer is the "generic default" combat profession

lol. Updated:


Best Damage Shot in PvP : Take your pick: Eyeshot (defense + sure win) or last ditch (less consistent, but fun).


Bounty hunter, smuggler, take your pick for best pistol damage.


Any other suggestions?

Pistoleer / Doctor / Combat medic here


I personally love my template.


I use Stopping shot, fanshot as soon as I get it.


My thing though is as a doctor I buff myself to the hilt.
I get my Mind Poison / Health Poison ready
Then I stick a damage coupler on my FWG5 and go nuts all day


I heal for 1200 or so, I posion, and Hit for great damage with stopping shot ( speed sliced, and teir II speed line)


I mix it up though, for me its not about spamming one attack over and over.


I start with a Health shot 2, then stopping shot, hit with health poison (pray it hits) then double tap/stopping shot the guy. I do very well.


The key for me is normally people to try to as much as they can right way, so if you survive the first attacks or so youll win. Thats where my buffs come in handy, if Im at 2500 or more HAM i can take some abuse and get a 1200+ heal off before i get into much trouble.


My weakness is getting mind screwed by rifleman / BH types. For them I drop evil mind poison though instead of the health poison


All depends on the situation.


Like I said though im very happy with my template

From the PvE side here, as a dabbler in Pistoleer:


Currently:
Master Medic
0430 Doctor
3304 CH
0031 Pistoleer


Stopping Shot has rounded out my character nicely, but I added one of the speed boxes to help with its delay. When solo with my pets I can engage an enemy and stand near enough to my pets to heal them if necessary, while still dealing out decent BS2 and Stopping Shot damage. I usually hit them with HS1 and HS2, then start with the BS2s, only using Stopping Shot after the creature has less than 1/3 health left to "finish it off" (please see my post in http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=pistoleer&message.id=13509&page=4for an idea I had about Stopping Shot and this method).


I used to be a rifleman but I found it's not easy to engage the pets and then run back X meters in order to start shooting as well, and then running back in to heal a pet, then running back out, rinse and repeat.


I have to say adding pistoleer has really helped my character gain more xp and $$ overall.

I see people alsways talking about using health shot 1 & 2.
Whats the deal? do these stack?


I usually start with a Health Shot II then spam doubletap and/or stopping shot in PVE

I actually just got fan shot last night so I dont have to worry about stopping shots terribled delay. My question is fan better than stopping, I havent had a lot of time to use it but im not sure it is, I know the delay is a lot better on it.
