What sort of sick care bear universe do you people come from?
Sorry for the late reply in this thread, but "If you're red on my radar you're dead on my radar"? LOL!!! That has got to be the cheeziest machismo comment I have ever read. I usually don't mock people for what they put on these boards, but I really hope this guy is joking and doesn't take himself THAT serious.

You are welcome to swing on by to Sunrunner's forum and ask about the adventures of Dr. Reta Cheetic and Buttonhoffer G'Narc. We regularly go up against numbers greater than us with pets with just the two of us. We regularly leave a trail of dead bodies behind us.
Since this thread is titled "Best Pistol in the Game", mine is a :
142 - 398 1.5 Scatter / 520+ with powerup
(32% dmg slice, +20 feeder, +101 tissue)
I feel forced to dabble when pistols like this do not exist for me as a master pistoleer. With capped speed and accuracy of the combined classes, along with this gun, I can pretty much kill anyone with any shot from either proffession trees.
Yeah, it's cool atm, but I want my skill points from BH back. Hopefully, someday, theywill give us master pistoleers some meansto compete regarding the pistols themselves. In the meantime, this is the path one must go to actually "be" a master of the pistol and to use the best handgun in the game (I believe a DX2 doesn't even use a feeder, so there's a disadvantage right there in possible damage).

You are correct. The DX2 uses no feeder mechanism.
I have a theory as to why the DX2 is how it is but explaining it would anger the rest of you.
Scattergun
this old form of weapon uses expanding gas as its propellant. Pellets of stone or metal are loaded into a chamber, and are expelled at high velocity by the release of a certain amount of the expanding gas

DX-2
this was the designation of a disruptor pistol produced by the Tenloss Syndicate during the New Order

Which SHOULD be the better pistol? Let the descriptions help you decide, along with the Star Wars definition of a disruptor:
Disruptor
a type of blaster which fires in a wide pattern, they are illegal in most parts of the galaxy because they reduce solid matter to its constituent molecules.
Source: Han Solo at Stars' End
Disruptor Beam
outlawed during the height of the Old Republic, disruptor beams were security devices which emitted a thin beam of coherent red light. The beam was capable of cutting a being in two without expending much energy.

There is no official "Scatter Pistol" except in SOE's Planetside game. Here's it's descripton there:
Essentially a handheld shotgun pistol, the Scatter Pistol is primarily designed for close quarters combat. Due to its short barrel design, the Scatter Pistol loses effectiveness beyond a relatively close range.
High damage, slow shot, but not high enough to kill outright.

You forgot to say you used lowblow before the attack ![]()
ps: or you did, but I'm to lazy to read the entire thread
sry for the fonts, wanted to test something.
And deadnewbie, would you plz exlain your theory to me? if you dont want to post it, pm it then.
Look at the guns.
You have T21 for heavy (is it still?) armor. It's rifle. You have carbines at pretty much light armor piercing. There's only 1 carbine that isn't AP and it's pertty much a newbie gun. Move down to pistols -- pistols have jack for armor piercing except for 2 guns. And they both suck. A lot.
There's only 1 pistol that violates all the rules for pistol. That's the scatter pistol.
If I'm understanding the intentions of the devs correctly, the DX2 will never be fixed. Fixing the DX2 would actually cause a great imbalance in the power of weapons in general. However, I'd suggest that the scatter be up for review. It is too powerful not because of its relationship to the DX2 but due to how armor piercing and quality of guns work through different professions. The draw back for pistols should always be that any armor piercing pistol should suck greatly. Once they fix AP effects on unarmored targets everything will fall into place. Then the disparity between all pistols versus the scatter become more so evident.
We are of course ignoring all the starwars lore at this point. However, lore sometimes get sacrificed for game balance.
Yes, I realize what I'm saying is basically "make pistols suck for AP" but something has to give an edge to carbine and rifle. If not straight raw damage then AP values. Then fix AP. Then all things will be balanced. I think and hope.

Uhh, yeah. Riflemen can do alot more damage than pistoleers. Laser carbine is ar2, T21 is ar3. Once AR is fixed, carbineers will do 50% more damage to naked people with a laser carbine, and riflemen will do just shy of 100% more damage to naked targets. How on earth can you say that once pistoleers are completly out damaged by every class that it will be fair? If pistols are intended to not be good at piercing armor, then pistoleers really need something to help compensate. I can currently get 85%(sliced) composite, it doesn't matter how good your krayt tissue FWG5 is when only 10% of the damage gets through. Sure, you can use a DX2, but you will still hit the 85% resist, and end up doing less damage than with a FWG5. The only pistol that could possibly get any decent damage through would be a tangle. However, my friend just made some 60% single layer composite with awesome encumberence and 10% stun resists. After the next patch, a different armorsmith I talked to said he would be able to make triple layered composite with one resist in the 80s and the rest in the 60s.
The DX2 and republic blaster need to be fixed if our specials aren't drasticly changed, or else pistoleers(not smugglers or bounty hunters) are going to become increasingly useless. I have been trying my hardest not to surrender pistoleer, but it gets more tempting every day. Especialy when I get hit for 900 DPS by rifleman with the AR bug still intact. If they fix it, expect to see advanced strafe break 2000 in PvP.
Factor in things like the speed caps the devs are talking about, then things will be balanced. Pistols will do fast, rapid damage that can't go through armor worth crap. Rifles will slice through armor like a hot knife through butter but much slower. Carbine is somewhere in between.
