Seriously, XPing got harder, certainly. It was supposed to according to Holo. Things you can do to XP solo, even vs socials:
1. Best weapon, and make sure you examine the mob first, and pick ONLY a weapon they are vulnerable to. If no vulns, choose a different mob. If you arent using top-crafted weapons, you're at a huge loss. be sure to calculat DPS.
2. Start off prone, kill the first mob before it reaches you, and pistol whip the second mob to buy you some time. Pistol whip is WAY too expensive given that it sucks now, I think it needs to be reduced.
3. get some pets and /or droids.
4. Use traps
5. Get pharm3 and use good Stim C's (thats a good idea regardles..)
You can drop any/all of this after you XP to where you want to be..and none of them take a lot of effort to secure.
IMO our body shot 3 should at least as hard as eyeshot. Targeted pool attacks are the best choice in solo PvE.
It's true, I started pistol xp because I had a pistol at the beginning of the game.
Secondly, I didn't even know there WAS an AoE Knockdown at Master Pistoleer until I was already halfway thru the Special Abilities III tree.

Its funny how nobody seems to talk about armor and how it effects combat. Pistols have the worst numbers against armor since only 1 Pistoleer weapon has any armor piercing effects.. thats the DX2 pistol. I see that the high end RIFLE, the T21 has HEAVY armor piercing. So against an unarmored person it does 1.25 x 1.25 x 1.25 damage (or 1.95 x damage total.. almost twice as much damage vs an unarmored opponent as the raw numbers read)
Everyone using a FWG5 get an automatic 50% reduction vs anyone wearing armor... even if that armor has low heat resistance. This actualy makes the DX2 supperior vs armored opponents even if the base numbers are less than the FWG5s. Also, since hte DX2 gets a 25% damage bonus vs unarmored people, its base numbers are decieving.
Armor is important to take into account in damage calculations. Everyone should be wearing armor even if the resists are low... Mabari armor with 5% resists still gives you the base 50% damage reduction vs AR0 (non armor piercing weapons like most all the pistols) weapons and negates the 25% bonus damage that AR1+ weapons get vs unarmored opponenets... The lesson is, get some armor! If your worried about encumberance, even a set of Mabari (novice armorsmith stuff) gets the base 50% reduction. Get a set made by a master armorsmith that has been experimented to reduce the HAM costs. Sure the resists might be only 5% or so.. but the base 50% reduction is still there... and you can get the HAM costs on it down to almost nothing.
Once people start realizing the benifits of armor.. people will start to see the benifits of having a good armor piercing weapon.. like a rifle to counter it. (Not sure if Carbines have armor piercing abilities.. probably do though)
at this time armor even a low end set like mabari dosen't matter we did a few test today because i play a CM/pistoleer and wanted to know if a helm would help enough
first test 1000 mind no helm VS BH with eyeshot
round 1 incapped in 4 shots
round 2 incapped in 4 shots
round 3,4,5 same
with helm I lasted 6 shots all 5 test
(composit 35% acid helm)
the kicker is the BH I had help me test is pure BH so his eye shot wat at about 1.8 speed not one of the dabblers (see above post for explnation of dabbler) so if facing someone with the speed bonuses from postoleer line i would have lasted 4 seconds with out helm 6 with helm. once again the facts seem to scream neft the dammage of eyeshot but I have to say no I still think it's a speed issue the current speed math use by the game make the shot spamable and quick i'd say raise the time mod on the shot but again as long as the weapon speed bonuses stack for both elite classes no mod amount will slow them down
P.S i know i sound hard on thecombo players and i do want to point out that some of them take the pistol tree because the investigation line on BH is still just not worth the time I belive a few of them will return to it when the invistigation line has been made more playable but untill then well there are those 15 spare skill points and pleanty of combat exp they have nothing to spend it on why not get novice pistoleer and and go up the weapon speed line
after that we are still stuck with the ones who pick the best of as many lines as they can to get the advantage in PVP
... back to my cave to stock up on 560 point mind poisions before the neft bat swings on my CM and no i dont think that combat medics 560 point poision is wrong it takes me 40 seconds to do what eye shot can do in 8-10 and a medic cant cure an eyeshot

jaegan you are 100 percent correct.. the devs do not even acknowlege the real issues and try to cover everything up with mushroom speak.. you know keeping us in the dark feeding us sh*t
bad thing is tho ive cancelled my account because there seems no end in sight from this massive screwiness..
perhaps in a few months when things are fixed ill come back but most likely this will be the shortest lived mmorpg ever made

Lets see if deve even bother to look and take an intelligent decision on the feedback of "real" players for once instead of going on their whims (I sometimes wonder if devs even play the game?).
For me, switching to pistol was a little different:
Before I gave up pursuing guns altogether, (so I could master some crafting professions), I started out wanting to be a Carbineer, but realized after a couple of weeks that pistols work much better on the animals I was shooting. All the animals would run up close to you, and this would negate the advantages of a rifle or a carbine, so I just started using the pistol from the start, and noticed a great improvement in my performance.
