Thread: Be very careful, Fanshot is broken

I think the most important thing to remember is that fanshot is not doing as it is suppose too. This should be a discussion for multi-shot not fanshot. Read the description for fanshot....it says one target multiple times...this is not happening....now read multi shot....sounds a little more accurate? So whomever thinks it is fixedis not correct. They fixed multi shot and attached it to fanshot. The fact is the shotis useful but still not working as described.

I have been testing multishot lately, and it is hitting multiple targets... I just cant figure out what kind of logic its using when choosing tartgets to hit.. How was it broken, anyway ? It was before my time... Was it ever functional ?

Some people suggest that it might be a 360 degree AoE rather than a cone - can you test that out?

You can actually solo with Fan Shot. I'm a smuggler. The other part of my arsenal is Panic Shot which is a cone based delay action attack. So I walk up to a lair or a mission base or whatever. I panic shot which gives me a good 10 second delay. Then I follow with a barrage of Fan Shot.

Fastest way to a whole bunch of dead mobs that I know. Carbineers wish they had it this good.

HELLO!!! In you second sentence you tell us the full basis of your success "soloing" a lair with FanShot. Panic shot... This does not make your argument. This totally destroys it. I'd trade four of our specials for Panic Shot.

Leave the panic shot, last ditch and low blow at home and hit that lair with fan shot. See what happens. Then report back.

Noules is right. Try using a pet to make all the creatures engage comabt mode with it. THen fire your AOE shot and it should hit all targets for actual damage. I havent used Fanshot. Just using my rifleman AOE experience, and that seems to be the only way to get them to work. Targets must be in combat mode.

Thats not what Fanshot is supposed to do.

How am I not soloing?

When you "solo" you never use a stimpack right? Because golly, pistoleers can't use stimpacks so if you're using heals then you're not being a good pistoleer now are you? I guess pistoleers who are out there alone shouldn't use any specials not in pistoleer because then they're grouped with some imaginary person?

You've got 250 skill points. If you aren't using them to their fullest potential, you're losing out. In fact you don't have to trade four of our specials for Panic Shot. You can get ALL of our specials AND panic shot. Nothing is stopping you from doing so. 92 points for Master Pistoleer leaves a lot of points left over. In fact, you have so many points left over that you can get that very uber Last Ditch if you want. Or Eye Shot.

What the hell are you people doing with the rest of your skill points anyway? Are you all pairing Pistoleer with Tailor or something?

(points to sig). Yeah, I "solo" hehe. Actually, I group much better (and with more fun) than soloing. I tried to tailor myself to be the "guy you love to have in your group". But, I discovered that it lent itself to soloing very well, as well.

If all you are is pistolleer then you are not using all your points, Pistoleer lets you do damage, end of story, ch (or smuggler, BH, commando) moves are for tanking.

For me CH + pistoleer = soloable

for him smuggler + pistoleer = soloable

if you are ONLY pistoleer then I guess it does not matter what you have to say because I dont want your advice/opinions lol... if you are a crafter wtih pistoleer then you CHOSE not to bea solo class.

Sorry, didn't mean to spotlight the "solo" aspect. However, solo with the use of PanicShot is a bit different than solo without. I don't have it, but I hunt with a smuggler quite a bit, and when Panic Shot is working like it's working now, everything just stands there and lets you shoot at them. This is hardly going to be the experience of anyone here who does not have PanicShot to mitigate the aggro that will occur from the FanShot.

My main point is, we should not be saying that Dev nerfing of a working special is OK, because we can always go to another profession and pick up a shot that fixes it. The viability of Pistoleer should not be based on my spending skill points anywhere else. Pistoleer should stand on its own and should have basic balance between the other professions. It should not be that we have 1 partially working special and 5-6 broken ones, and then say to ourselves, "But that's OK, because smuggler has 4 kick butt specials that all work and are better than anything we have, so let's dabble ourselves back to parity."

Yea well, this is the pistoleer forums. If your trying to say this elite class is only worthwile if its paired with a hybrid class, then we got some problems making pistoleer a viable class. The fact is, I might want to be a pistoleer dancer with some scout skills, all depends. Thats not the issue, the issue is that pistoleer spec attacks, fan shot speciffically, are worth about a load of bantha poodoo.

You ever do a level 25 mission without heals? Pistoleer by itself is not viable. Newsflash!

Name me one combat class that is self sufficient with only it and its prerequisites.
