Thread: What is the ratio of damage of a random HAM attack?
Okay... that's just wrong.
Anyway, long story short, if I shoot you with a random hit or default attack, roughly half the time I'll hit you in the chest, arms, waist, or hands (health), a third of the time I'll hit you in the legs or feet (action), and a sixth of the time I'll hit you in the head (mind).
But say I hit you in the chest (health) for 1000 damage after protection. The actual distribution will be 800 health, 100 action, 100 mind damage. That's what they're saying at least, and it's a reasonable explanation even if the %s aren't entirely accurate (and who's to say they aren't)

That's 110%...
**edit** lol I belive I was going for 55/35/10....
The emprical data was 55/32/13 though...
Sorry about the 45%, I must not have had my coffee =/
Is that the distribution or the percentage chance of each area being targeted? If you're really sayingthat's the distribution, then someone has got it wrong. I tan't be both 80, 10, 10 and 55, 32, 13.
Ok, hehe let me explain a bit better...
Random pool atacks have this % chance of landing on a certain pool...55% Health,32% Action 13%head.
Once an atack lands on a pool, weather it be a targeted atack like body shot, or a random atack like your default atack, or stopping shot. The damage is divided up....to be 80% on whatever pool was hit, and 20% goes to the other two pools.
So, if you were to use default atack and hit the action pool for 100 damage....You would actually do 80 damage to action, 10 damage to health, and 10 damage to mind.
If you were to use "Body shot 2" and do 100 damage, then you would do 80 damage to health, 10 to action and 10 to mind.
But yes the advanatge it body shot 2 will always do the 80% to health....
Okay, so now I get it. So basically (using the figures in the FAQ), a random HAM attack, in order to be as effective as body shot 2, would have to inflict 79.64 damage per second to the body(compared to Body Shot 2's 43.8 damage per second) in order to offset the 55% lower chance of hitting the body. That is unless of course the creature has amuch smaller actionor mindpool, in which case the random HAM attack may be better.
Since no random HAM attackdoes this amount of damage (unless things have changed since the patch), then Body Shot 2 is the most effective pistoleershot of all. What a pity it's not even in the Pistoleer tree, LOL.
"in order to be as effective as body shot 2, would have to inflict 79.64 damage per second to the body"
Sorry, that should read: "in order to be as effective as body shot 2, would have to inflict 79.64 damage per second to the creature"
