Thread: OFFICIAL Dual Wielding Pistoleers
to be honest, i'm sure the devs know how to manage their workload correctly in terms of what needs doing now and what needs doing later. having some ideal speculation about what we would like to see in terms of dual pistols is not going to bring the entire time management of the developers to a halt.
if they want and feel the need to follow this thread that is their choice while simply its presence alone will not delay anything else getting fixed.
i really find it difficult to believe how many people on this board resort to flaming as if the presence of a particular thread is somehow a personal insult to them.
need to fix the class first before adding more skills as you can't possibly base any addition without first fixing what needs to be done. we are in weaker in power as it should be. no more power. ability, is a different matter thou...
however, before anyone carrys on, that doesn't negate the validity of talking about it possibilities after the class is balanced![]()
Yes, yes, we all want to get the profession fixed. But I would really like to see some new options for us as well. People thinkwe are the majority profession and I don't see it. There may be alot of dabblers, but a select few of us strive for master pistoleer, and we should stand out for it.I choose this profession not for uberness or to rule PvP, but for the romantic notion of being a pistol master. The finesse, grace, and style of well placed pistol shots is what we should be about. Insteed the are the current "lame duck" of the game. A pistol master with only one gun to set him above the rest is kind of lame. Of course, so are shots that don't work. So, keep at he Devs to ungimp us and use the attention to ask for the other stuff to. There is no telling when it will be our turn to speak again.
Big props to all those headed for Master, don't give up yet.

1/1/2/1---long way to the top
I think that Dual-Wielding would be better suited as an elite-elite proffession
Some cool ideas:
1. Climbing up the tree, dual wielders should be allowed first only to focus both their weapons on one target. As they climb, the ability to focus on two targets simultaneously should be first introduced then become more efficient as more skills are gained.
2.The penalties for dual wielding should be harsh in the beginning but lessen as skills increase. At first it should be something like Main hand 75%, Off hand 25%. Of course it would suck losing some of your main hand efficiency right off the bat, but hey, it takes some time to adjust to shooting two weapons at once. Maybe the next skill on that tree would increase each hand 25% (to a max of 100 of couse).
What's tough about this is there has to be a whole new targeting system.
The best way to approach these types of skills would be in a way modeled after the Star Wars RPG.
although i think thay need to fix the stuff we have first, i also think dual wielding would add that extra sumthing to make pistoleers special. think about this for a second
1) make dual wielding give a bonus to specials liek multi target shot, and fan shot. makes sence 2 weapons one for more then one target, and you can fire twice as maney times.
2) make teh first pistol slightley less acuret, and a tich slower. not saying much mabey 10-25% slower, and 10-30% less acuret, becuse even with 2 weapons your going to be focusing on your strog hand's weapon more. and have the off hand lowers by 30-50%.
3) add dual wielding acurcey to the acurcey line.
not exactley shure where to put this in the skill tree, but it should NOT be low, no dabler should beabley to dual wield.
and as far as what disarm should do? thats simple, just deequip the weapon. yea it doesent sound that great, but think how anoying it would be to have to remember to reequip your weapon when you get disarmed. those few seconds that a riflemen, or aney ranged weapon userer could turn the tide in the battle while you charge in to optimal range. this would also make more people think about geting H2H skill to defend them selves up close.
but yes thay should fix the current tree befor thay add stuff, but as someoen posed befor if we dont tell them what we want when thay are makeing major changes, chances are thay will never be made.
This post is all but OFFICIAL I think, it will be official when a CSR or so will ask us what we want, not like to happen before every other prof in the game can solo Krayts it seems.
Meanwhile and just because this post isn't worst than 3/4 others, you could AT LEAST try to answer it carefully.
For me, there shouldn't be an Elite-Elite profession but a part of Pistoleer (well, I think everyone should be able to dual wield since it makes perfect sense). Of course, I see many drawbacks to Dual Wield that only Pistoleers's skills should avoid like accuracy, quickness and defense states (defense...oh well).
You shouldn't be able to dual wield while running with your target in your back.
You shouldn't be able tu dual wield while melee or penalty should be huge.
Special moves could cost twice their normal cost.
We should get it since novice but REALLY inaccurate and then, as we progress, being more and more efficient while dual wielding to reach the 75% single pistol accuracy at master.
Being able to "cone attack" but not fighting 2 different targets at once (what happens if target are at opposite sides ? Meaningless)
I fail to see any reason to limit dual wield to a said certification. For sure some guns should be more efficient for dual wield but as long as each of these guns is single hand and as long as we have...2 hands, we should be able to use 2 at the same time.
Main problem will be : every other prof will want to have something like that (despite their is no reason to dual wield rifles or flamethrowers). Dual Wield is not likely to happen before game gets balanced and it will unbalance things a lot. At this time, Pistoleers could get way better balanced with Dual Wield and their Special Moves (and defense skills) fixed.
Many a next coming patch ?
Dual wield should be placed at master and should have an intimidation affect.
There should be a 25% reduction in accuracy, no modifiers to speed or damage.
Do this and Master Pistoleer would be worth something. Until something this good is done, you're not a master of pistols until you have Bounty Hunter eyeshot. If you think I'm joking, find a good bounty hunter and have a friendly duel. Hell, go find a novice smuggler and have a friendly duel. Master Gunfighter sounds great but in the game it's a joke and a half.
Pistoleer needs some steroids to make it viable in PvP. Until it gets some, I'm grabbing me the BH pistol line just like everyone else. Unless, that is, someone can tell me what's so fun about getting the crap kicked out of you everytime you find a bounty hunter.
