Thread: Great spot for pistol exp and scouting exp
Head south of Nashal, have spent nearly 100% of my career on Talus. I'm2 3 3 2 in pistoleer and 3 4 3 2 in ranger. The tortor bull'shang out around 2000m south of Nashal. They are not aggro. Before the posture change and KD change one could solo bull's with threaten shot and never get hit and get 2300 xp per bull, 30 tortors per nest and 3500xp for the nest itself.
The strategy has changed post patch, you will lead off with bleed 1, then bleed 2(yes they stack, make sure you close to ideal range) then use warning shot and bodyshot 2, its important to peace after a successfull warning shot, then follow again with bodyshot2, rinse and repeat. Save your threaten shot's for emergency's to stop the bull in his track's while you get distance to start warning shot and bodyshot2 rotation again.
Another trick I learned while killing tortor bull's solo is if you find a vynock nest near by they will serve as yuor best friend's if things go south. Just kite the bull towards them and they will tank it for you while you spam bodyshot2 on the critter. Now one fynock does not standa chance against a bull but 5 or 6 of them do. It's quit effective but i only use it for emergency's as the fynocks will steal xp from you. I do not consider this an exploit, just sound tactics.
I have 530k of pistol xp sitting around unused and not sure if I will spend anymore points in pistoleer at this time. I hope that bodyshot3 gets a boost along with a few of the speed issues before I spend more points in pistoleer.
P.S. When is say 30 tortors per nest not all respawns will be bulls, some are just tortors and some are meager tortor's, but they are 30 spawns per nest, trust me I have killed alot of tortor's.....My .02
you should try to get missons for it,
getting money while getting xp isnt half bad
Tortors become really slow after Expert Pistoleer. You'll need to find an alternative after that.
My suggestion is pay for buffs so you can hunt Baz Nitches.
Wait wait, why am I suggesting places so you can go and level to a horrible Master Profession?
Yerp i agree, now you have said where to find them, exactly how to kill them and how easy they are they will certainly get a buff - especially as they con red and *should* be almost impossible to solo. Tortor buff/nerf coming right up....
The Tortor's are not actually that easy to find, i know this as me and a mate have been hunting them for the past few weeks, it can take a LOT of exploring to even find a lair and the lairs dont seem to last very long. They are good XP tho - but there are better around...
Zyg.
Just a few quick notes:
Bolle bols and fambaas on Naboo seem great once you find a lair and are plugging away... and then that lair is gone and you spend another half an hour to an hour looking for another. You never do get bolle bol or fambaa missions on the road to master. I don't even see them at master... so I wouldn't recommned them, as they are really a waste of time.
Torturs do have missions, and you can find them all over Talus relatively quickly. So for younger pistoleers, it's an excellent source of experience.
Whoever said: "My suggestion is pay for buffs so you can hunt Baz Nitches," must not have played since the patch, because with the 30 seconds between each posture change a pistoleer cannot hope to take two nitches at a time, which will most certainly happen when you are solo... there is always one solo nitch and two that seem to be linked so that if you pull one you get the other as well... and without a pet it's just not do-able anymore. Used to be that I could go get doctor buffs from my favorite doctor on Starsider and go get 150k experience in an hour... not anymore. I don't think nitches are worth the time, and they are too dangerous.
And suppression shot hasn't been nerfed as much as people claim, unless they were needlessly spamming it over and over again. It should be fairly simple to kite, as most pistoleers have had to do once or twice in their career, and stay away from the creature by using a few Warning Shots while you wait for the little 30 second timer to expire after your first suppression fire. I still find it an invaluable skill.
Hey Treun,
I'm on Starsider also, send Iwen Cedo a tell in game and maybe we can do some hunting together.
