Thread: Give us mind damage to.
Had this big long post I was gonna type, but it's pointless. People want a reason to complain, period. You want to be the best at pistol, fine give up the ability to be the best at other classes. ie master ch, master medic, etc... I gaurantee that if the devs posted tomorrow that they were giving pistoleers a mind shot, but taking away their ability to be master medics, ch, whatever and leaving them with 33 points after mastery, there would be a uproar, and just something new for people to complain about.
Whine, flame, whatever...some of you guys are really good at it. Keep practicing and maybe you can Master that too.
The BH was given mind shot so we could hit every pool, my thoughts on why this was done.
1.) To represent the BH's 217 points spent..I know this is an old argument but hear me out...
Being able to hit all three pools allows us to divesify in one treee, where pistoleers ect could take up another. Now of course there is a huge problem with this..
If any of you have no read Raph's post then I shall quote it...
"Mind damage was not supposed to the determining factor in combat"
Mind damage was supposed to be healable just like every other pool, unfortunatly once they saw that a stim B could nearly completly heal in about 5 seconds they needed a way to relagate this...
During that change, which was made to keep a medic from ifinite looping medicines (heal heal heal, heal self replenish mind ect ect)...They forgot to rebalance the classes that mind damage was given too...
The crux of the issue here is, eye shot was not ment to be over powered, in fact had everything gone as planned it would not be (it simply would give the BH more variety in his atacks). But a nerf to the Medic profession made it over powered.
A few things that are being looked at is..
1.) Ways to make mind damage healable.
2.) revamping the current heal system..
So Doctamer...Be careful what you wish for, soon mind damage will be just as good as health shot 2, in fact it might be worse, since everyone and their mom has a helmet.
I ask again, read the issues, understand the game and why something is over powered, before you ignorantly cry nerf. Nerfs hurt everyone...Eventually when every other move has been nerfed, they will go after even stupid specials like Fan shot....
Concentrate your energy into researching the problems, and offering solutions to wider and more sweeping problems...Like mind damage in general.
I completely agree with the last poster. There is no need to nerf everything. For one, pistoleers target the health pool. If anything, give us more viable optionsto attack the health pool with, and maybe a few status effects.
You think BHs are overpowered? They are strong, yes, but look at it like this. They have the unpleasant job of tracking down people to kill them. Not just anybody either, usually people with high resistances to everything and a big HAM bar number. I know because I have been with my BH friend on his missions. They also do have to spend a lot more skill points, which warrants a little more powerful stuff in their tree. The problem is, everyone and their brother is either BH or commando for the big damage weapon certs after comando was "fixed". I think there should probably be a sort of limit on stuff like BH, commando, CH, etc. allowable as a percentage of the population, because not everyone is going to be these things.
As for a way to fix pistoleer, I'd say to make the existing skills work like they are supposed to, and give us more speed/acc modifiers than BH. I understand a BH would be more willing to use cheap tactics to incapacitate their bounty, hence the shot at an opponent's eyes. Also, they'd be more aware of vital spots, so you have torso shot. But to say they'd be better at handling a pistol, when they use whatever weapon is necessary to get their job done, just doesn't make sense to me.
One of the best solution I have seen is this...
Change the BH weapon lines into "BH combat technqiues"...Make them cost Combat exp.....
Spread all of our modifiers throughtout them, making it impossible to grab all the modifiers in one line.....
Switch pistol accuracy while standing to general accuracy...
Enhance pistol accuracy while moving and defenses so they work....
The most balanced solution I've heard so far is to prevent characters from taking Novice Rifleman, Novice Carbineer, or Novice Pistoleer if they have Novice Bounty Hunter... and vice versa. Unfortunately, I think it's far too late for such a change.
1) Mind Shot needs to drain Mind Pool for the shooter HAM cost.
2)If rifle ranges can't be increased then limit pistols to 45m, and carbines to 55m.
3) Make dancers and musicians (but not general entertainers) able to heal mind damage in the field, but make the heal require the target to be sitting andgrouped with the dancer / musician. Also, prevent the mind healing ability from working on ones self. These measures willprevent a mind heal frombeing abused during combat.
Oh I just remind the most important thing : you spend 217 skill points, so you can do anything.
