agreed, fan shot owns if you have low pistol speed, if u have any bh pistol ss owns creatures, shoots redicuously fast with a +100 pistol speed. I have found out that Ill take the speed over the dmg anyday(fan shot), since the dmg for ss is not a constant high(with fwg).

Well, fan shot has a damage/delay multiplier of 4.0/2.5 and stopping shot 5.0/4.0 (I believe). This means to cap with FS you need a modified pistol delay of 0.4s.I'm assuming no pistol can have a base speed of less than 1s. In order to have 0.4s modified pistol speed with a 1s delay pistol, you have to have +60 speed.

Fan Shot can be capped for quite some time before Stopping Shot comes into its own. Unless they have Master Marksman or Bounty Hunter skills, I don't think anyone can shoot Stopping Shot at 1 shot per second. However, at Master Pistoleer, Stopping Shot will do better than Fan Shot with a 1.1 pistol. So, if the original poster is a Master Pistoleer with a 1.1 pistol, then he doesn't need Fan Shot. If he's a Bounty Hunter, with their unbelievably high Pistol Speed, he doesn't need Fan Shot. For the rest of us schmoes, there is little reason to hotkey it unless you want to see the most damage you can cause with a Pistol in one shot, regardless of the ages between shots.

I first based my conclusions on these weapons based on their ingame behavior. Even back when we had superior accuracy at all ranges, it took a day to realize this highly touted skill was performing worse than DoubleTap. Of course, after switching back, it only took two more days before I realized neither was as good as BS2. The nice thing about this game is that the numbers seem to stack up. With each new pistol speed skill added, the weapon fires that much faster. With each new skill, the multipliers and delay all work out. And when you do the math, then look at the results in the game, When we had 100% PvP damage and when you're on 1000 HAM mobs, Stopping Shot can look like it shines. But getting on the higher HAM creatures, the damage is only marginally higher than Fan, but far far slower.

I guess I would say is, unless you're a bounty hunter, or unless you're a Master Pistoleer with really well sliced weapons, if you're finding Stopping Shot to perform better for you than either DoubleTap or FanShot then you've found one of the first times I'm aware of when the damage math in this game was broken.

I am a Master Pistoleer, BH-pistol line,

Fan shot is better because once you have so much pistol speed, what is the defining attribute to how fast u shoot is the special itself.. Stopping shot has a delay that is near twice what fan shot is to me.

I drop ppl much faster with fan shot, and it usually hits the the life pool.

Well, it's correct that fan shot can be capped for some time before stopping shot becomes better. The point of the first paragraph is that even fan shot isn't capped unless you're a master pistoleer or have some BH pistol speed. The rest of the post stated what weapons speeds are required for stopping shot to be better than fan shot in terms of pure DPS.
