Thread: How would duel wielding work?

I say make it -15 accuracy per gun for a total of -30

Too low. An advanced scope will add +27 to a gun. If the accuracy was that low it just means every pistol crafted just sees an advanced scope on it.

We need new cert.
We need new moves.
We need something unique.
We need more power.
We need something to compensate speed issue.

Well, Dual Wielding can be the all-in-one answer. Why not giving a special cert at mastery with a gun you can use Single or Dual ? Of course, less accuracy and less moves if you are dual wielding but the gun need to be at least better than the DX2.

unbalanced if same power ? Listen : we can even Quad Wielding (don't ask me how), we are still UNDER other porfessions in DPS, don't make me laugh with the balance issue, you're far to know what "balanced" means.

Accuracy must suffer penalty, no question. We reallu don't care here if it is possible RL, we're not talking about RL (you can't step over a 10cm high stone, don't come with RL argues please). But it shouldn't be that bad, a total penalty of 30 at perfect range looks good but surely need testing.

Another thing that is very true : most of us are wanting it for cool looking purpose, not really for perfect combat purpose. It should be exactly like any other weapon in the game : depends on the situation. Dual Wielding always mean much more power (twice actually) but many misses. It is often used when mass opponent in front of us and sounds more like a "cone attack".

Special Moves shouldn't be used while Dual Wielding...we should have some non-working moves going to the Dual Wield issue, like Multi Target one (cool, already Master skill) and BodyShot ones (cool, not working or almost).

Dual Wield should exist for sure for pistoleers and surely for Carbineers at a lesser degree (the accuracy penalty should be much bigger). But don't state it won't work if you don't even look at it. It can work, there is no reason it can't. Balancing the dmg output wouldn't be that hard when we know the Dual Wielding profession is the lower DPS in the game.

i like the ideaof a new schematic of a duelonly weapon for masters only.in reality it would real be 1 weapon with a set damage range, lower acc. and some tweaks to speed, etc. all the devs would need to do is make the schem, the animation, and thats all.relatively simple implementation.itwould LOOK like two weapons, andwould domore damage, and it would LOOK like 2 weapons firing, but its just 1 weapon doing set damage

They could handle this like they did in Everquest duel weilding (rangers, rogues, warriors, monks etc) The weapon in the main hand (default right hand) hits for its normal DPS. The one in the offhand has a delay/damage modifier. They also have to work in a fix ham costs. I think this would be a great idea on the speed issue. If the 1.0 sec cap is the best they can do due to server limitations let pistoleers dual wield. But add modifiers so pistoleers are balanced.

Watch the film ''Equilibrium'', thats how a master pistoleer should wield dual pistols

Offhand should be normal attacks only.

In this way, the dual wielding just acts to add DPS. Might also have to make it so that the secondary pistol isn't affected by the speed mods (or perhaps a scaled version of them). Without having the ability to use special moves on the offhand, you avoid having to adjust for HAM costs,or to balance the damage of a "dual-wielded fanshot".

You should also only be able to dual wield when standing. No way to lie prone and fire two guns without eating a face full of dirt.

Yep, great idea. You should still be able to use it while kneeling but not hitting if the target is behind you.

Being KD or forced to go prone should also prevent you to use the offhand pistol for a given period of time.

For the Equilibrium thing (very good movie btw), I think it would :

- be much more unbalanced, these guys are excellent in both defense and offense
- impossible to implement because their ability is mainly to take down many unaware opponents
- nothing to do with SWG. Of course you can argue that we already imagine that nowadays SO someone could have tried in the future for the exact same reasons BUT using laser type pistols would negate the surprise factor : it is easy to know where the hit came from. Do not forget too that it was fun to see but absolutely irrealistic.

Why are we discussing it like it's going to happen?

Read Dev Team answers : they like this idea VERY much it is likely to happen one day.

now, we can only discuss for fun or try to help them designing it without to many balance issues.

If there's still a bunch of bugs that have been left unfixed and ignored this long, I wouldn't hold your breath waiting on duel wield.

Personally, I'd like to dual-wield my DX2s But we all know how that's going.

Personally if they made an elite-elite for pistoleer, name it Corsair or something cool, takes a few skill points, costs like another 4 million xp, but you dual wield, effectively doubling what you can do at master gunfighter.

I'd go for that.
