Thread: Novice Pistoleer: How do I get better destroy missions?

I'm a novice pistoleer with a very nice scout blaster - haven't really found an FWG5 better, and some said DX2's are broken. All my skill points are spent elsewhere, this is my highest my weapon skill will go.

On Naboo for example, my destroy missions are typically night spiders, with the occasional flewt and Nuna lair (rated as level 10 or 11 missions).

Is this the highest level I'm going to be able to get? It's hardly worth the run out to kill 3 - 5 flewts in 1 shot each, then the lair in a few more shots, for 500 - 700 credits?

How the heck do people get these level 65 missions I read about?

Do I just have to go to the outer rim for better missions? WIll I be stuck without progressing my weapon skills further?

Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

Actually, I would love to be able to get your missions. The money and fp dont scale appropriately, so the level 16 missions I get now are MUCH more time consuming and dangerous, but dont pay significantly more. I can run four level 10's and make 2800 in the time it takes to run one of the harder 16's and make 2000...and I will get incapped 100% less. As it is, while I was working on building up faction points, I trained up my carbine until I got difficulty 8-10 missions and ran those with my pistol.

There's been some talk of being able to pick difficulty somehow or having a wider variety of difficulty missions, but I dont know what the status is.

i cant speak about the outer rim planets cause i have never been to them. in naboo, tatoine, corellia and talus the only way to get better missions is to increase your skills in pistol. i currently have 0 3 3 2 in the pistoleer tree and i get missions for 3.5k with difficulty 18. these missions range from being difficult to medium if i solo them and if i have my trusted cowardly gurreck they are usually quite easy.

Things are about to get MUCH harder. The mission system doesn't take into account how broken the proffession in question is when it calculates difficulty. Where I am right now, body shot 2 doesn't cut it on my missions. I guess I was a fool for climbing the trees evenly. How did people ever reach master? Grouping on the adventure planets, I guess.. soloing just won't work anymore. It would, if our specials were worth using.

As you progress and your skills get better you'll obtain more difficult missions. If you're up for more of a challange, try heading to Lok, Dathomir, Endor, or Yavin 4

However, I would advise taking along a few friends or finding some people to team up with when you get there. Especially on the first three planets listed.

Gunner4life is correct in that you will need to increase your pistol skills in order to get higher missions on the starter planets. As a Master Gunfighter I can tell you that it did not seem to make a difference which tree you climb first or how high you climb it as to which will gain you more levels faster. At Master the highest mission levels I have seen on the starter planets are lvl 25, same goes for factional mission terminals. Also as a note, each box does not mean you will increase in mission lvl rather it seemed every 2 or 3 boxes. Also, You dont need to climb all the way to master to obtain this but rather at 3 boxes from master I could get level 25 missions.

As for the outer rim planets I was able to get level 60 missions or even higher at novice pistoleer. It seems those terminals dont take weapon skill into account. My guess is they assume you will be working in a group and so you can take those missions even as a beginner.

Hope this helps

For every combat related skill box u gain, the difficulty level on your missions go up by 1, and its rite for me. i think even if u have rifle 1 but ure a pistoleer and using a pistol, the rifle 1 in the marksman tree still counts towards your difficulty lvl. Btw this is olny true for the starting planets, on teh hard planets, there's a set difficulty level regeardless of the No. of your skill boxes. (dantoine's minimum is 35-40 i think).

Ohand btw, when u get difficulty 20 missions on tatiooine, u can swpan mountain squills.

Thanks for the responses. Due to lack of skill points, I will not be going higher than novice pistoleer, so looks like I need to change planets to get a better challenge. I should be able to find a group on the weekends, just a pain week nights as everywhere is like a morgue when I play, around downtime each night.

hi

Go to Lok, get lvl 25 missions, as novice pistolleer, they are easily soloed.

Also take mission like mercenarys and pirate, give like 4-8k per mission you get alot xp. Dont take anything with Nym in title big no no, droidekas are nasty when soloing

Get a group to fort tusken, shoot for 2 hours and be 200 k pistol xp richer.

Go to mos Traike(NO shuttleport ) and wait around on a weekend or a day when everything is populated. If your lucky a krayt hunt will be going and they always want more poeple(unless they like soloing with the always gay atst). Also watch the boards for info on upcoming raids to fort tusken and such, you will get alot of xp. My first krayt hunt proved very worth while, since we didn't immediatley the krayt immediately, which got poeple bored, which lead to the deaths of MANY different creatures that i could not have soloed.

Speaking of which, Chubtoad, how would I improve my Nym faction standing? I managed to do about 3 Nym missions and get myself to -5000.

RandomB asked how people reached Master, based on how difficult the missions are.

I think that you are making a mistake if you take missions in order to raise your skills. Take missions to make money ONLY unless taking missions is the best way to get the right mob to spawn. Missions are usually bad xp and good money.

To gain xp you need to find the right mob (usually big and slow, not BAF if possible) and focus entirely on killing that mob. Most mobs are BAF ("bring a friend") so you'll have to work on ways of isolating one mob away from the rest of the herd. 50% of levelling up is finding the right mob and learning how to isolate the mob so you can take on only one at a time.

The other 50% of levelling up is lessening your downtime. A lot of foolish people kill a mob and then run around in circlesto find another one... or better yet choose to attack a mob that causes so much damage/wounds that they have to spend 10 minutes healing after every encounter. A smart player will maximize the amount of XP per minute he gets by finding a spawn, camping that spawn, and spawning a new mob as soon as he kills the previous one.

Go to Yavin 4 and grab mamien missions. They are non social and fairly easy at your level if you're careful. Theyre cl 18 with 4500 HAM, light armor and 15% resists across the board. Get yourself a dx2 and a rock beetle(and lots of stims)and youre set. Mission payout is around 5k.
