Thread: Is ranged suopport a must or droppable?

As I move higher into the pistoleer/ smuggler ranks I find myself looking for more skill points. I am considering dropping ranged support 1-4. Is melee defense that important? I still have no idea what ranged aiming does for me. Is it only when I use the aim ability or is it all the time? I was considering dropping the ranged support branches and instead use the combat xp on Pistol stances in the pistoleer tree. Does anyone know where I can get some hard facts on these abilities? Thank you.

One question:

Do you regularly use Warning Shot or Supression Fire?

If not, then I would not worry about the atributes you will lose by giving up Ranged Support, they are relatively small compared to what you receive in the Pistoleer tree (even though defences and aiming rarely seem to have a noticable effect, at least in my opinion).

Warning Shot has saved my but quite a few times out in the field, though. I may give that up in the future, but well after I master Pistoleer (1-4-4-3).

Also, I hope that you are aware the you lose the combat XP used to gain the ranged support line when you surrender the skill? Your comment about "using the combat XP" has me a but worried.

In short, if you don't use the specials I wouldn't worry about it.

I would never give up Warning Shot ... that's a hugely useful skill. Suppression Fire, after the nerf, isn't much of a loss.

Warning shot is a must for owning CH's in PVP.

Supresion fire is good since we dont have a ranged KD

I PvP for about 3-4 hours a day. I'm probably one of the most lethal non-BH pistoleer on Sunrunner. I don't shoot at pets until the owner is dead.

i hate to say this but if you dont worry about my pets your dead. unless your spamming eye shot i just heal myself for your patheic bbs your shooting at me while my pet rancor does from 600-1400 damage on you. and my 600 damage from stopping shot and that isif i use my rancor. now if i use my toxic merek battle lord which does from 300 - 1000 damage in pvp with my greater sludge panther that does 200 - 750 damage on you at the same time my toxic is hitting you ranged at up to 70m. you would still aim for me and not my pets. hmm i dont think so. if you do your dead. or even if i used my merek assassin and merek avengers which incapps in 2 secs if not dealt with your still dead. now if you are talking about ignoring a non ch rock beetle or cowardly gurreck i can understand that but you better not ignore a master ch pet. i can drop anyone if my pets are out. if not i an just a gimped pistoleer shooting at you for 600 random damage. a enemy in pvp that doesnt target my pet is a dead enemy. even if i am greatly outnumbered my pets will still kill up to4 or 6 people depending on if they are commandos or bhs or not

There are these things called enhancements. Doctors apply them to players. Combine that with armor you can ignore rancors for a few combat rounds. Rancors also move slower than molasses. They're the last mobs I'd pull out as a serious PvP player. Now, blood mites. Those things are killers.

I don't have pathetic bbs. My gun is 434 max damage. They hit like sledge hammers. I don't even want to talk about what happens when I start whipping out the high damage shots.

My gun is a FWG5 with 43 damage krayt tissue and 20 damage high velocity feeder mechanism enhancement. Thrown in with power ups and a good slice for maximum effectiveness.

The gun was custom made so it's extreme on a lot of level. Wound chance around 23%. Accuracy at ideal range is +57. You can blind me and I'd still hit you at max range. The HAM is sky high -- 35/61/36. I only pull out this gun while enhanced. Using it any other time is suicide.
