Thread: LLC official response
Posting this here for a heads up and opinions...If you do not like it, please state an alternative, or the reason why
. Just looking for honest opinions on the subgect.
This is deliberate.
Flamethrowers and the like only have 4 special attacks, and they are all limited to 16 meters. So they are very powerful close range weapons.
Lefthand fire weapons are the equivalent of special attacks, but they are also based around charges.. a rocket launcher does 1500 more damage than a t21 special move, but it also consumes a portion of the item..
All of the lefthand fire weapons have damage values that I consider to be competitive compared to other ranged weapons out there..
If the rocket launcher causes problems in pvp, my solution would be to make it harder to hit smaller targets (such as players).
The rest of these weapons are correctly setup (at least for now). The commando class gets next to no defensive mods. They have reusable weapons that are fully functional at 16 meters or less. All of their other damage producing abilities are based around consumables which are extremely expensive.

Now it seems straight forward....Since anything over 1k damage can only be done within 16 meters, then the cannon is only a slow carbine at anything greater then 16 meters.
In other words when you see a special heavy weapon, like the LLC, stay more then 16 meters away, and it will be no stronger then any high damage rifle/carbine (Which is true, I can do more damage with my carbine at range then with the LLC default atack)
However now the problems....
1.) Firing rate....Frankly either the firing rate is to fast, or the special move firing rate is to fast....It gives other classes no time to get away before a zap comes in.
2.) Movment....This weapon does stop movment when fired, I however feel this is not enough. Somone firing an LLC should probably have to kneel, or at least have a large delay in their walking/action que...
3.) From what raph hinted at, which is a good idea, anyone who has a heavy weapon equiped takes alot more meelee damage.
What it seems now, at least to me, is that they are aiming for meelee to be the bain of heavy weapons, while ranged will be the bain of meelees....There are flaws in this I agree completly. But I would like your opinions concerns suggestions? The BH's are currently discussing this as well.
I don't care too much at this point. Heavy weapons were broken to begin with. At least they work now.
The only thing I don't like about it is the devs have gone back on the idea that people shouldn't be getting 1 shot kills in PvP. They're back, but rather than every combat class having a chance to kill a player easily, only 2 professions will. I think we can look forward to commandos and bounty hunters "skyrocketing".
Not sure, lol never used one before the patch, because they were useless.
Perhaps I will let my TKA friend kick me in the face a few times to test this out....

I can already see l33t dude flooding into the commando lines...
With proper restrictions I belive these weapons can be balanced....Frankly I think the big factor would be a much longer firing time, coupled with the inability to move after firing...
Making it a good big bang weapon, but leaving you as helpless as pre patch KD victem afterwards....Still leaves issues tho..

There's another famous quote (I'm not sure who first said it though) - "The best defense is a good offense."

Why is there a post on LLCs in the Pistoleer forum? How does it affect you? Commandos and Bounty Hunters willbe nothing BUT Commands and Bounty Hunters...it's not like they can pick up other professions, and do them well, like we can.
Bounty Hunters and Commandos were expected to "skyrocket" anyway, due to the professions' popularity, and their massive damage capabilities. Every other newb is/was a Bounty Hunter wanna-be anyway...a new weapon isn't going to do anything. Heck, I have every freaking weapon at my disposal, and I still chose Pistoleer and Swordsman as my martial professions.
The Heavy Beam Commando weapons do like 3K damage base, but only have about 30 uses. These weapons are going to come into play in major team battles...NOT in crappy little one-on-one duels. Stop expecting balances on a one-on-one level..it's not happenning. A BH will rape a Pistoleer, no doubt it, and that's how it should be...however, a BH will not be able to focus his power on multiple enemies, which a Pistoleer CAN do, and thus, with good tactics, in group battles, things will come out rather balanced, which is the intent for this game.

The original poster is just a rather annoying BH troll who has high anxiety because she knows that her class is getting nerfed soon.
I havean LLC and have zero LLC skills ... and I was hitting for major damage without specials tonight. I'm way more effective with the LLC than I am with a pistol even though I'm a Master Pistoleer + Expert BH. Ya, that makes a lot of sense.
Enjoy the one-shot kills in PvP for the next few weeks, guys. I give it 2-3 weeks tops.
