Thread: The Rifleman Correspondent Wants to Kite Us

The Rifleman Correspondent wants to nerf us so we can't fire from further than 30m, which will enable them to kite us from 30m to 64m just like they do with melee. On that thread he cross-posts his messages from the Correspondent forum, including his responses to Jaegen on that forum.
Riflemen DO have big problems as a class, so don't go on there and say they don't. They have problems with warping mobs, they get a 2.5 melee penalty, they have high mind HAM costs, and their T21 got nerfed recently.
None of us want THEM to be nerfed, but we need to question why they're asking for us to be nerfed instead of asking for their own profession to be fixed.
Aldeon is just throwing out ideas. The fact is that a Rifle needs to rule at long range. The problem is that with a potential 3 second cap someone would be in the Rifleman's face after the first shot. I personally don't see a problem withAldeon's idea. You don't go running out into a field straight at a sniper with a pistol in your hand. That just doesn't make sense. This way Pistols will rule at close range and Rifles at long range. If I engage you around a city corner or inside a building I should lose. With Aldeon's change, it would happen. I mean at Hoth did you see a bunch of guys running out in thesnow firing pistols? Any time you see people like Han fighting with a pistol it is at close range and effective. The stormtroopers weren't just running at him with T21s in their hands either. Range is where all the balance is at.
Men, I love our pistol range just the way it is...
Instead they should give bonus to rifleman if they can stay in the 32-64m range.
We can't shoose the HAM pool we attack and our miss rate is now greater than before. This is the difference there should be between rifles and pistols. Rifles should never miss in the 32-64m range and they should hit harder.
We've been nerfed not so long ago, I don't think we should be nerfed again because another class is broken.
IIRC, the proposal was actually for -specials- to be range-limited for pistols to 32m. Autofire would still work, and kiting wouldn't necessarily be a significant advantage for the rifleman (pistol gets more accuracy while moving, and increased missed rate due to moving on both sides means the rifleman effectively expends more HAM if using specials).
IMO, in order to clarify this situation, you really need to define the roles the classes are supposed to play.

ok, pistoleer must be between 7 and 8 bet only if the target was afk and laying prone.

Hyperbole doesn't help with much except to confuse the issue. The proposal that I remember seeing was pistol specials from 0-32m, carbine from 16-48m, and rifles from 32-64m. There's no reason why the ranges can't overlap (they do now, obviously).
I like a lot of Noule's suggestions, they take less time than mine to write ![]()
Anyway, I agree, too much BH comparison, too doomsday about the speed issue, not enough focus on rifle fixes (or do they need fixes..we assume they do), wonder why some can spam mind pool shots and not cost mind, while rifles cannot (self-limiting), are like you say, what the role of each combat profession is.
If there as evera pistoleer chanage, hard cap would NOT be the way to go. Anything that has to do with accuracy should be addressed through accuracy.
