Thread: If you could only have 4 boxes...
It also kind of depends on your playing style/combat style. I am a ranger/pistoleer. I tend to be up close with critters, throwing traps to keep them off me and running around, rolling and diving while shooting. Thus I'm moving while shooting at least half the time.
Im in the same boat as you with limited skill points. I am going to go with the Marksmanship line. My reasoning is that it gives me accuracy and speed bonuses. Particularly it gives me bonus to hit while moving. What I do all the time.
If you are looking for the best way to do max damage, I then say go for the one that gives you bodyshot2. Bodyshot1 rocks worlds, and bodyshot2 must be fantasitc.
Well.. The only Pistoleer skills I am taking are from the Special Abilities branch for the plus to speed. The reason I am taking only those is that I am a Master Smuggler. With Lowblow (ranged KD), Panic shot (Broken but will be cone effect damage and delay) and Last Ditch (Good damage to random pool, but 4x delay). I have pretty much all the moves that you get off the Pistoleer line.
It's pretty sad, but you guys have seen the math. With the Ranged Support branch from Marksman (Supression fire and Warning shot), and the bleed+ DX2 of Novice Pistoleer there really is not much reason to get more. If I was not a smuggler then I would go speed and Stopping Shot.
Speed, Speed, Speed. thats all you need.
The smart replies were the ones who suggested that you get speed. None of the specials on the tree are worth a darn, so don't waste points on those. The defensive mods don't work either.
Interesting...so you are you saying that specials aren't better than what you get in marksman? I noticed the original poster did not mention he had any other pistol skills.
I know I would prefer Fanshot over Bodyshot2 in certain contexts (like PvP).
I would prefer BodyShot2 over FanShot in every context aside from the rare situation where I'm facing someone with almost no action or mind and I want to gamble that FanShot hist one of those pools instead of health. Iprefer StoppingShot over both once I hit very high speeds.
This isn't really a matter of preference, though -- it's a matter of calculating how much damage you spit out with each and taking into account that the random HAM specials won't hit the same pool. All the tools to do the math for yourself are in the Pistoleer FAQ, which isa sticky postat the top of the forum.
