Thread: Dual wielding pistols is a stupid idea
Dual pistols would need to be balanced - we'd have to do less damage, fire more slowly, or miss more often.
So we'd gain nothing from it.
What about the downside? We'd have to buy twice as many weapons and have twice as many weapons wearing out and in need of repair.
In other words: Dual wielding would be a net loss for the Pistoleer profession!
"But it would look so cool to have two pistols!" - Great... so you'd happily accept a nerf as long as it looks cool?
Give me a break! That disgusts me as much as those that complain about the appearance of the DX2. In what bloody way does changing graphics offer the slightest benefit to Pistoleers!?
Besides, we need our offhand to control the pistol's recoil. Beam weapons have terrible recoil.
Ok your reasoning is that IF you used the dual pistols you would have to be balanced (Nerfed).
Also IF you used 2 pistols it would cost you more money.
Ummm, if you don't like the idea than don't dual weild, but let the rest of us look cool if we want to ok?

The cool thing about it would be that that crap looted pistol that poisons but is otherwise crappycould go in your off hand while your Bad-Mother-Shut-Yo-Mouth Krayt FWG5 with a high velocity feeder could go in your main hand.

Is there ANYONE out there who is ANYgood at pistols like me, who knows that duel wield would make a pistoleer unbeatable. I mean i already am. I dont want my character to be invincible. The game would no longer be any fun.

Once EVERY single one of our issues has been COMPLETELY delt with to ALL of our satisfaction then maybe someone can think about asking for what will essentially be art.
This is as about as important to me as the burning need to go topless was (glad they fixed that, who cares if the GCW has ground to a halt with the revenge TEF)
Screen savers look cool but aren't much fun to play with so maybe looks aren't everthing.
While I generally agree with your analysis, YIF, there IS one possibility of Dual Wield being useful.
I seem to recall the dev's asserting that they would like to reduce the pistol delay cap to .5 seconds to help address the speed cap issues. Later someone (I think also a dev) suggested that there may be a hard limitation of 1 second on the cap, and that reductions might not be possible.
In the case where they wish to reduce the speed effect, but can't due to server communications issue the easy solution might be to 1) Allow dual wield 2) Double the delay effect for each pistol in the dual wield and 3) allow both pistols to be improved by the pistol speed up to the cap. This would in effect allow double the rate of fire at the cap, while only marginally affecting speed in the upper parts of the range.
I don't expect to see this, of course, and the rest of your objections do apply here. But it WOULD be useful to get around this one limitation.
