I'm a Tier 1 Reb pilot 1/1/1/1 working on Tier 2.
I have a Y-Wing with lvl 3 Blaster Damage @: 543.2 - 1001.0
I've noticed that hitting the targeting "X" right on the dot, often does no damage at all. So I have to 'guess' where to shoot to do any damage.
Because I have to guess, It can take me up to5 mins to take out 1 Tier 2 Tie Fighter, and if I take too long the "mission fails because a critical target left the system". This is very frustrating.. :-(
Also.. while using missiles, I get all of these series of 'beeps' and 'multiple' flashing "X"'s, and when I fire my missiles I get the: "you have not acquired your target" message. What are all those beeps and flashing X's if it's not acquiring the target??
Anyone else having these problems or is it just me?

i usually shoot just in front of the x depending on the way the other craft is moving. example- the fighter ur shooting at is moving from right side of screen to left shoot just to the left of the x otherwise just keep tryin different areas till it works out good luck

yeah its not necessarily going to hit exactly, that box means that if the ship continues flying in the same direction in speed, right in the center will hit dead on, unfortunately ships turn and change throttle, so you gotta just do your best

Quite often you are going to find a particular situation's sweet spot with regard to the targetting reticle (sp) is not right in the center of the x. Often, the sweet spot is going to be on trailing edge or just outside the entire green reticle graphic, sometimes as far as nearly half distance between the reticle and the target ship itself.
A lot has to do with relative ship speeds and opposing flight paths...and perhaps some limitations in the targetting code.
Not sure what's wrong with you missiles, sorry.

Heya, Yeah I have been experiencing this problem as well. What I have to do is fire just between the ship and the target indicator. Very annoying. I also have issues with the lead target indicator even showing up till im right on top of my target. Theses were issues I also experienced in beta.
Ok when using your missile system you have to wait till the targeting reticle locks on to the target. So eventually those flashing x's will line up and lock, when that happens, hit your missile fire button as quick as possible cause if he shakes your targeting you'll start all over aquiring your target.
Good Luck and May the force be with you!

Here's my adive on the reticle, its just a referance, gets you in the area, If you really want to learn to "lead" your target go to one of the teir 1 spawn sites and just spend an hour or so killing those targete without the reticle, remember that the more of a angle "deflection" the target has to your line of site the more lead, speed also has a large deal to do with where you have to shoot to hit the target, get a warm and fuzzy using this method, then use your reticle and you'll see you rarely miss, (unless your fighting an a-wing, damn you a-wings, damn you!)

I am having TONS of trouble with this. This is a bug and it needs to be fixed. I can run around in circles for 20 minutes with a ship in combat and not hit a darn thing, shooting in the middle, left, right, ANYWHERE of the target, shooting in between it and the ship, shooting way out in front of it.
Sometimes my shots hit (their shields flare) but no damage happens!
Unless they fix this problem soon I will be forced to drop my subscription. As it is now I can't complete any combat missions because apparently I'm firing BB's instead of bullets.
