Thread: Problem with escort mission driving me nuts!

How long do these missions last?!?!?

I've been doing this one for 3 hours now. I've allready successfully escorted 5 transports in a row, each one takes me through wave after wave after wave after wave of enemy fighters which I have to kill. Every time I stray too far the freighter pilot tells me to get closer, which I do straight away so that shouldn't be the problem. Sheesh, I have nothing against long missions but 3 hours?!?!?

Oh yeah, and it's not even finished yet, just got a message to go escort the next transport.

Are you sure you aren't doing a duty mission? As these types of missions can go on for as long as you want them to and can be stopped by you at any time.

Yep just realised that. Just wish somebody would have told me that before I spent 3 hours on this. They really should have the trainer tell you this. I had 50K of the 60K xp needed when I started the mission. I could have been done in less than 15 minutes if I'd known this.

That's a duty mission alright! To stop it, just go to your DP and click "End Duty" on your mission. Even in the middle of a mission it'll say you've succeeded!

I'm privateer and I just trained to 1211. Thinks are working fine now but the devs really should have the trainer inform you that you can end these duty missions at any time. Instead of having poeple waist hours of time on something they think is just about to finish so they keep going just a little longer and a little longer.
