No offence, but i find it's really a bigger distraction than it is a help.
People who fly, should be learning to lead things without the help of this reticle.

Or how about.. starter ships get the leader to allow players to become familiar with the concept of leading a fighter to hit it.
But on the player made ships, it should be dependant on the players skill to lead and shoot, the speed of the weaponry and the piloting skills of the player.
Droids should convey higher accuracy (not sure if they do or not, not used one yet) as they interact with the targetting computer when selecting a target.

Just a couple of thoughts about JTL that i think are worth implementing to make the whole pilot profession that much more skillful. As right now, i've not found it at all difficult even in my Z95 to take on tier 3 and 4 ships. And i'm only a 1/1/0/0 pilot

i like the startership having the lead reticle suggestion..

too bad we don't have a JTL Correspondent to gather all the ideas and present them to the devs..

I acutally like it.

For one primary reason:

If i didnt have that, id have to take down the cockpit frame like i did back in the old Tie fighter / XvT days, and well, i like to feel like im in a cockpit flying somethign rather than just magically hovering out in space all by my lonesome.

I got a better idea, how about the option to turn it off and on at the individuals discretion?

EDIT:

besides that, you do realize that real Heads up displays have far far far more information that a Target Lead Indicator right? Flight path lader, Line of Sight indicators, angle of attack, etc etc (im an old sim fan)

Actually just an option would be nice. Sometimes it's really hard to tell how far away anything is and when in a turret it's really nice to have to judge speed.

I too wish this was an option. In beta, when you could turn it off, I did. I became really good at judging distance and vector of the target. The lead reticle for me is distracting. I try to ignore it sometimes and re-learn my old techniques, but inevitably I find myself trying to pick a spot on the green cross to aim at instead of evaluating the enemy ship.

It's definately just an annoyance. If you aim DEAD ON you'll never hit a thing. You have to aim more towards the target for blasts to hit. Some craft (like X-Wing) have such a spread of fire the lead is useless.

Maybe give it as an option for Astromechs or Flight Computers. It takes up a valuable program slot but if you want it there it is.

was thinking about this earlier... dont take it out, just give us an option to turn it off. it is indeed very distracting and can be quite misleading for a lead reticle

im against the reticle being on when you go to 3rd persob hile flying, Please remove it becaseu it makes dog fighting too easy. I dont know many piolets that can zoom out too make it easyer too shoot you down.
