Yup we were grouped prior to launch, and even though we were in different sectors were still grouped in space although what it did say was out of range in the top left corner. My m8 is also on my friends list and vice versa.

I landed and launched into space 5 times last night, trying to meet up with my m8. Still could not get it to link up. Does anyone know if the devs are looking into this, or if it will ever be possible?

The work around a few of my guild are using at present is to make sure you are grouped prior to launching and that they are on your in game friends list. As this seems to let you see the group players then.
