Thread: Is JTL and SWG designed with PVP as the high end content and/or end game content?

The discussion has lost some of its relevance since now people can get master without having to be exposed to PVP. However, I don't think this really addresses the issue. Sure it allows folks to get the master badge, but then the game is just as done as it is now at 4444 without PVP.

I believe the Devs have said that this game is designed for PVP and the GCW to be the high end/endgame content. Jedi Knight is forced PVP, to me master pilot was the Jedi Knight of space. The only way to have a never ending amount of content is to PVP. Each time you visit Kessel or deep space you would be encountering a new scenario, new people with new tactics and things to keep fighting fresh. One day come in your A-wing, the next come in your firespray.... No matter how much content the devs try and add in missions, they will always be exhausted in a short period of time by people. We are at 2 weeks from launch and we already have a growing population of master pilots.

We are also our own worst enemies. How many people have power leveled or taken the duty missions to get XP faster instead of taking an escort or capture mission? How many of us look for the quickest shortcuts instead of maximizing a storyline? Yet we will be the same people to complain about content when we are done.

If the devs have designed PVP as the high end content, the changes to Kessel don't really do anything but give people 2 more missions to complete. Next are you going to ask that Deep Space be changed so that you can attack or defend a star destroyer without PVP? If you don't embrace PVP the game is just about over for you. There is nothing new to do.

Also, to me the reason I play on on-line game is to challenge my skills against another player instead of AI. Why else are we all interested in an on-line game instead of a stand alone game.

I play a mmoRPG for roleplaying and the social aspect, not to fight other players. If I want to PvP I play a FPS...

And I could think of many PvE missions after master or even before. Even if the current 3 or 4 types would stay, but would be accesible through a terminal. Bored of the ground game? Go to space and do some missions! Bored of Space? Go to the ground! Bored of both? Go to a Cantina and talk to some people! Still bored? play something different for a while or talk to "real" people, get a girl/boyfriend, wtach TV...

That is what I do, and I have fun with this game, just dont stick to one single thing for too long...

it's patently absurd to assume JTL has anything but PVP in mind for end game content. tier 5 mob AI is rediculously simple, and will never improve dramatically. thus, what is left after PVE? social aspects as the previous poster mentioned? sure. should social aspects dictate the design for the rest of the end game content? no.

if you want a game where social aspects *do* dictate everything, perhaps you would be better off in second life, sims, or staying out of the master pilot box. master pilots are called 'aces' for a reason. if you are upset about not having your beloved millenium falcon you should petition to move the cert to a different box, not cry until other player's fun is ruined.
