This is one amazing ship that if used correctly can be VERY effective, mostly of course against larger targets such as Transports, Novas, Gunboats, Corvettes, things like that and though not many missions require you to fight against things like that this is what makes the Bomber special is that you can just redeed it and pop it when you need it the most.
Now of course the bomber has some flaws, such as:
Speed: I was using a 74 max speed engine on mine, so I was able to get the Bomber to around 650ish I believe, not really too bad if you think about it but there also several other draw backs the Bomber receives.
Handling: you aint going to be doing much dogfighting with this brick, the Bomber is purely a group ship for support and should not be relied at all if you need help with a certain fighter. Like I said the bomber is for taking out bigger targets.
Capacitor: I have a good capacitor for now, it's around 41 for regen rate so it's very useful. However since the Bomber can hold 2 weapons and since you can fire these at the same time that means a big increase of energy is going to be used up. Of course it's not really that much of a problem since you would want to fire your weapons in bursts and not really squeeze the trigger that much. Several passes are good.
Upsides
With thick shields and armor this thing aint ever going to have too much of a problem unless of course getting plastered big time by a nova or a gunboat. Just stick with a good shield that has good regen rates and it shouldnt be much of a problem.
Weapons- stick 2 big guns, an advanced blaster or higher and a strong ion gun and you're in business. Let's not also forget that you can stick 2 missile racks for some even further destruction. Very strong in this category. If you got a crappy gun, dont even bother using it on the Bomber.
Mass- holy bejeezus- my Interceptor only had 50k for mass, the Bomber holds 198k more or less for whatever you need, the amounts are great and you'll need it for the high end parts you're gonna get.
So if you like sitting on a chiseled out warship the Bomber is for you. Dont listen to anybody else unless you try it for yourself.

ditto; flying brick definitely characterizes the bomber; great ship due to mass and very durable with high output... but if you're into faster things, go with the interceptor. course the best way to go is to have both ^_^
