Thread: Soo close (storm tier 3 mission 3

Looking forward to completing mission 3 today.


I solo'd the first two, it took me about 7 tries for the first one and about 4 tries for the second one.


Mission 3 I almost completed in one try yesterday.


I started by meeting the Lambda to pick up the fake documents, then I travelled to the waypoint to deliver them.

At this point just before reaching the second waypoint I was jumped by waves of rebel ships, each wave having 1 tier 4, and 4 or 5 tier 3's. I mistakenly assumed this was the part everyone was talking about where you need to kill them fast and kill enough of them. The targets all had red mission critical boxes around them. I spent a good half hour to 45 minutes killing wave after wave after wave. My combat exp went from 300k to 700k during this time.

Finally I decided it was either bugged or I wasn't doing it right so I figured maybeeI wasn't close enough to the waypoint ... taadaa .. the second shuttle warps in, I dock and the mission continues.


I get to the point where you have to escort the decoy shuttle .... wouldn't ya know it, someone else is doing the first mission (escort the engineers) at the same time, and guess what. Both shuttles use the exact same flight path, so we have both our mission waves spawning on us, worse yet it won't let me kill any of his and vise versa. Making targeting a nightmare. Eventually I make it through, the shuttle says you need to kill 4 waves, I think it actually made me kill 5 or 6, the shuttle warps off and I'm givin a waypoint to kill the incoming rebel assault.


I start killing wave after wave of increasingly more dificult rebels, while the scan comences, finaly around 90 percent a wave jumps in including a Nova, I'm able to disable it's reactor then finish it off.


Finally I turn to the remaining fighters, expecting the scan to complete any moment now, when yet again our friendly tier 4/5 pirates decide to crash the party. Forcing me to hyperspace away or be destroyed ... after hyperspacing I start heading back (only 5k away) just enough time for my shields to build back up, when the mission fails because I'm to far away.


...almost ... compared to the first two tier 3 missions this one seems a little easier so I can't wait to get back at it today.


...anyone know what steps may be left after the sector scan is complete?

that's it, after it's complete ur done. Unfortunately the next mission (the one im on is freaking hard as hell. You have to first take out 8 x wings (cough EASY) then u have to meet a lambda shuttle and escort it through 6 waves (cough ALSO EASY) next part u have to disable an uber nova (cough PRETTY FREAKIN HARD) and then you have to attack and kill another uber nova while its being guarded by 8 x wings (cough vomit choke ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE SOLO) anyway lol, ya ur close to the end, in fact, the scan is the end lol

The 1st Nova isn't that bad, actually.It's escorted by three tier 4 X-Wingsbut the Nova itself is justa tier 3 ship. But you're right that the final part of this mission is a nightmare for a soloist . The final Nova is escorted by lots of fighters (haven't counted them but I'd guess about 8-10 .. mostly tier 3)but the Nova itself this timeis tier 4(!).


I don't think this can be done solo in an Interceptor. The tier 4 Nova needs about twoshots to kill your 1K+ shields and it shoots *very* accurate. It also rolls so fast that no matter from which angle you attack, you will be hit.You might want to try a bomber but the obvious disadvantage of the bomber is that you're going to have a bit of a hard time with the Nova escort. Not sure if you just need to kill the Nova to get mission success. If so, a suicide run in a bomber with two good blasters and good missiles might work. I tried this myself solo in a bomberand did good damage to the Nova but I didn't have missiles so got blownto piecesbefore I got the Nova. That thing is a real beast . I guess the ideal flight group for this mission would be two bombers and one Interceptor. Should be fairly easy then.

Is that the mission where he tells you to go kill 10 rebel fighters? ..


If so, that's the one I'm on now.

Only gave it one shot, so far.


I just can't believe these missions, they're set up is terrible.

Frankly who gives a crap about exp, by the time you complete the missions you have 10X as much exp from all the failures as you need! I'm just about 1 mil exp right now, and all I needed for my last tier 3 box is 200k
