Hello all!

I've been putzing around with JTL for a week now, and I'm unclear on a few things. I'm hoping someone might set me straight on a few things.

1. If you're in a mission in space, can you /quit out without risking loss of the mission (just curious)?

2. Is there a "reason" to fly around if you don't have a mission? I mean, on the ground you can hunt, etc., but it seems to me there's very little to find in space unless you actually have a mission.

3. I recently "graduated" to the second tier of missions, and I have been getting absolutely smacked around. I'm curious if this is typical, or if I simply set my ship up very, very badly.

4. I chose the "Neutral" faction, because I thought it sounded interesting. In retrospect, though, is there much difference between the space-borne factions? I mean, as a "smuggler" (or whatever its called), I'm not going to actually be running weapons to other places, I wouldn't guess, right?

5. I joined the Naboo security force (the neutral faction for Naboo, I assume?) I'm not clear if that makes a difference in the gameplay, particularly if I were to decide to go to Corellia, for instance.

6. I heard mention of grouping on space missions. Is this the equivilent of grouping, getting a mission, then launching with those group members?

Thanks, and I appreciate the help many have already offered.

First, find a very good Shipwright, and get some custom made components, they are way way way better than looted ones. Some say not, but I am a SW and Pilot and my stuff is twice as powerful than looted. (of course I have had 2 accounts from day one, and my MWS has tons of the best resources that ever spawned, that helps)
Second, you can find random spawns in space, I sure did and leveled the 1.1.1.1 fast, but I think you have to run missions to get training, I forgot if you absolutely have too.

Can I look you up on Radiant, BigZak? I'd like to become a ShipWright, as well (had been pursuing Architect before I left the game many, many months ago).

I also meant to ask, can you actually get killed in space? I didn't really see that happen.

Thanks!

I think you can for some tier 3 missions, someone else should be able to give you the right answer.

2. Is there a "reason" to fly around if you don't have a mission? I mean, on the ground you can hunt, etc., but it seems to me there's very little to find in space unless you actually have a mission.

Yes, space loot, capacitors and enginescan be a heck of a lot better compared to SW stuff. Amongst a couple of other things. Although things may change so that Shipwrights get the upper hand, hopefully.

3. I recently "graduated" to the second tier of missions, and I have been getting absolutely smacked around. I'm curious if this is typical, or if I simply set my ship up very, very badly.

Space loot

4. I chose the "Neutral" faction, because I thought it sounded interesting. In retrospect, though, is there much difference between the space-borne factions? I mean, as a "smuggler" (or whatever its called), I'm not going to actually be running weapons to other places, I wouldn't guess, right?

Neutral can be handy in the fact they can help Rebel or Imp depending on your mood.

5. I joined the Naboo security force (the neutral faction for Naboo, I assume?) I'm not clear if that makes a difference in the gameplay, particularly if I were to decide to go to Corellia, for instance.

No differance to the ground game.

Yes, and considering I used to be a loner I have to say, grouping for space missions is great fun, get a couple of wingmen andblaze through the third tier.

If you get killed or exit the mission sector it will fail. Keep in mind that you can still hyper to locatons in the same sector with out failing the mission.

2. Is there a "reason" to fly around if you don't have a mission? I mean, on the ground you can hunt, etc., but it seems to me there's very little to find in space unless you actually have a mission.

One reson to go up with out a mission is loot.

3. I recently "graduated" to the second tier of missions, and I have been getting absolutely smacked around. I'm curious if this is typical, or if I simply set my ship up very, very badly.

tier 2 shouldnt be that hard, you may want to look at upgreding some of your ship systems

4. I chose the "Neutral" faction, because I thought it sounded interesting. In retrospect, though, is there much difference between the space-borne factions? I mean, as a "smuggler" (or whatever its called), I'm not going to actually be running weapons to other places, I wouldn't guess, right?

You are correct.

The are diferneces betwine them, miison dificulty and locations.

Yeah tough you can also group up in space. Tier 3 and up missons are rely hard to solo so a group is a must.

Thanks, and I appreciate the help many have already offered.
