Thread: JTLS, GCW, PA's, Capitol Ships and YOU!
- Player Space Stations and Capitol Ships couldbe declared "overt" - comparable to land-based "faction" bases
- Turrets controlable by players for defense
- Capitol Ships could be used to repair ships while massive (mobile)combat scenarios
- Players could dock with and converge with hand-to-hand (or blaster) combat
- Bases "static" as withhouses ... maximum number regulated to prevent "overpopulation" / cluttering
Look at it this way: Right now the only wayyou canbe in space is in a ship. If it's a multiplayer ship you can walk around inside it, but you're stillina ship. The only way to get out of space while remaining in the game is to get out of your ship at a space station... but then you're no longer in space, you're back on the ground.
Isn't this terribly limiting? Doesn't it put a severe crimp in the kinds of missions players can take, and the kinds of Star Wars-related fun they could otherwise have?
It seems to me that there ought tobe places in space we can walk around in that are outside our ships. I'm not talking about free-floating in spacesuits (as interesting as that might be) -- I'm talking about being able to go into multi-player areas from space.
Space stations and capital shipsare two obvious examples of places we should be able to explore, but surelycreative people could come up with more. What about asteroid interiors? Abandonedmining rigs? Derelict alien spacecraft?
Withoutthe capability to exit our ships while "in space," how can we have missions to rescue a princess, or disable a tractor beam, or steal the plans for a superweapon?
Hopefully this capability to leave our ship while still in space is being considered for implementation. Without it, JtL will be stuck being a mere shoot-em-up. A nice one, to be sure, but nothing more.
And that would be a shame.
