how much do you want to bet that the devs "fix" this with a 75% damage reduction. the result? everyone flying in circles constantly, attrition the aim of 1 on 1 dogfighting and all other pvp dominated by groups.
i agree bombers and heavy craft should last longer than fighters, that needs to be fixed, however a move in the wrong direction will push JTL to be exactly like the ground game, with everyone flying heavy ships with huge shields.
i'm hoping the developers use reason when they implement a damage reduction, but considering they never really have before, i doubt we see that happening.
i hope you people brought your dramamine.

i'm just surprised at the concerted effort to make it such. it really honestly feels like SOE wants to kill PVP. they go out of their way to make it inaccessable and uninspired. why? i can't fathom it. there's nothing to do in this game past mastery save PVP, chat, or grind for loot. don't they understand the beauty of a multiplayer game is freedom from AI that cannot be made challenging?
it would take so little to nudge the GCW into a full blown, balls to the wall war. but they simply refuse to do it. sometimes i think that the team wants to kill off SWG outright, it's the only way to explain some of the decisions they make. the longer i watch them pander to the whining, but vocal, minority the more i think that the combat balance will be a complete failure, with the GCW following suit.
i just wish i understood where the disconnect was.

Hopefully they make smaller changes at first and see how it goes. I think however that if there is a damage reduction the smaller more agile ships will still have an advantage. They will be able to get behind a bigger ship and the bigger ship won't be able to get a shot in. Most likely the only way a bigger ship will be able to take on a small agile fighter is with turrets.
I should add... This is a theory. haha

They are. In TC, they gave higher stats for armor. We'll see how it goes.

Wasn't that change only to player crafted items? Did the changes affect shields too?

Yes, just player-crafted armor, and no change to shields yet.

Ok, let's do it your way and throw out the possibility of using any ship other than a small fighter for PvP. Wouldn't you rather see a variety of ships entering into PvP? I know many people would like to take a MP ship in and have a full crew manning turrets and doing repairs and such.

Anyone who has an RP thought of battle knows that you do not take a heavy ship solo into battle. It must be accompanied by fighters.
