Thread: Is it intentional to have a brick wall at 2/2/2/2?

It's kind of a difficult situation as i see it, to set difficulty levels for a game like JTL. In a single player game you can have a difficulty setting that the player chooses and thats that. What do you do though in a live world? You cant have the player save.. you cant have the player set their dificulty. So you have to set a level thats going to work the best for as many players as possible. It's a critical balance.
Myself i am not a leet kid on mountain dew,I have however played a great deal of space sims, and find the difficulty level to be pretty average. Not everyone is on the same level no, but there are alot of space sim players taking this game up that would just blow through it and toss it if it was easy enough for the average mmog player to expect to be able to solo every mission.
Exactly. With some people, this serie of missions isn't that hard.

Well, yes its a very long mission. It is also quite a non proportional step compared to the missions preceding it as well as other tier 3 missions ive done on other professions. I crashed the first time i atempted it as well, fortunately in the first 5 minutes of the mission. There is no argument that the game needs some serious bug fixes and tweaks. However i knew it was going to. Everyone i talked to that was in beta said it wasn't ready but they were shipping it come hell or high water.

It probably would be about average dificulty if you dont factor in..
1. Game crash's every other attempt at the mission.
2. The mission waypoint ending up right at a never ending spawn of ships that continue to hurass you all threw your mission and eventually overwelm you.
3. Something not working right, like a waypoint doing nothing, or the ship you are susposed to protect instantly explodes the moment it spawns (had it happen once).
I probably wouldnt be so mad and able to complete the missions if one of the above hasnt happened to me every attempt I have done at tier 3. But about the time the ship im susposed to protect says "All clear, im out of here" The game goes into an endless loop and crashes to desktop, leaving me to reconnect and run to the mission giving npc to hear "Good job, now get up there and dont fail this time"
Oh and if it helps, you do not have to kill the ships that attack the freighters. All you need to do is keep up to the freighter as it runs its course and keep the ships off of it. For the first escort the z-95s and y-wings are so slow that you can distract them while the freighter gets ahead a bit, then leave them in the dust with the booster and catch up to the freighter. This does not work with the a-wings because they are too fast. Again however you do not have to destroy them, you can disable them which is much faster allowing you to keep up to the waves more easily.

That's not much of a solution, it would be easier to spend a week doing the mission solo than it would to find a group to do it with you.
I spent an hour in front of Jabba's on my alt while all kinds of people came and went, asking them all if the pilot trainer was inside the Pallace or if I was missing them somewhere outside ... an hour beforeI finally got a reply. And when I expressed that it was going to be difficult for my non-combat character to complete the missions to gain entry to Jabba's, the reply I got was "tough, you wanna be a pilot you gotta have skills".
Well it sounds to me like you are on one rude server. I can't say im surprised though. The soloplay attitude that has been nurtured so long in this game has realy made people so resistant to the concept of grouping its sad. I think you would have far better luck putting a group together on your servers forum than you would doing so in game.

Then I agree *you* (and probably many other people) have a problem. Although I have the necessary "connections" to finish this mission (
), I agree that the difficulity needs to be toned down.
At least spread the one serie of missions into mission one, two and so on without the need to do it all at once.
- A lot of the people who are having a hard time with tier3 haven't been upgrading their ships as much as they should. Player made shields and lasers will be leaps and bounds above looted ones of the same level. Conversely, looted engines and capacitors will be much better than crafted ones.
- Where the tier4 z95s red bracketed? Maybe they were just a random spawn in the area. If that where the case, you could use "Bomber Strike" to distract them, right?
- By the way, you can type /abort to cancel a hyperspace jump. You then just need to wait something like 30 seconds until you can choose a new jump, while the hyperdrive "recharges".
- I don't suppose you are Valcyn, but if you are, send me a /tell and I'll be happy to help.
