So far most of the threads i've read here (and posted responses to for some) have all been PvP players VS PvE players. As a player who participates in both, (i'll get to the options later) i dont' see why we all can't seem to get along.
First off, kessel. Wow...thats starting a HUGE war between the player bases in itself. My opinion is Kessel should be PvP as well as Deep Space just so there are TWO zones to choose from for PvP. HOWEVER, currently due to design there is the Master pilot mission (which IS PvE) in there and is forcing PvE players to PvP. I knew right off this would cause problems, and well....it has. Im not going to downplay either side because that is not the point of this post. But when they change it to a PvE zone, i believe this only TEMPORARY until the DEV's come up with a new plan. This problem HAD to be dealt with quickly, so I believe this is a temporary fix. Personally i beleive they should make an instanced version of kessel just for the 2 missions. This isn't about difficulty, its about forcing players to participate in something they either aren't ready for, as well as something they may not want to be any part of. This in no way hurts the PvP community becuase if anything, it helps them since no one will complain about being ganked because everyone who is there, WANTS to be there with the sole intentions of PvP, and since it would be instanced for missions, the other players on missions would have no interference from other players, and would be free to do their missions.
Second, it seems most the PvP community is complaining about moving the missions from a PvP zone to a PvE zone is difficulty. By NO means are the missions easy. For the rebels, I'm one of them, we have to worry about Tie Aggressors since they can shoot us while we're behind them. For the Imperials, i can't really say HOW difficult it is for you since im not one of them, but im sure its just as hard. The corvette is, well, a corvette and you need a group for that, self explanitory. Im sure there are some people who are able to solo it with uber items, but because not EVERYONE can, its not a problem. Good for them, they're powerful and so they should be able to use the power given to them. But I've had to group for SEVERAL of my missions, these 2 especially, so don't think i was able to solo everything.
What a lot of people fail to realize is that players are just being forced into something they don't want to do. The "well no one is forcing you to master" statement holds no value, becuase they completely miss the point that THAT is NOT the PROBLEM. Its the forced PvP aspect. Becuase i only PvP when i want to, i get the thrill of it because its what i WANT to do. If i don't want to PvP i don't have to. And that is what makes this game fun. YOu can do what you want to do. However, with kessel you currently have no choice.
What im also noticing is a LOT of selfishness. "i want pilot Aces to be RARE!" Um...wow. Can you be anymore selfish? Why should YOU get to decide who is Ace and who isn't? Think of it this way. How about since they have to be rare, i take away YOUR Ace and see how you like it. You wouldnt like it would you because its a goal you wanted to achieve right? So you did and now you have the Ace title and can be happy. Good for you. Don't try to prevent the rest of us from getting it because you want to be selfish and stop me from playing the game and achieving MY goal.
"Ace should MEAN something!" It does. It means you mastered the Pilot proffesion! Good job! Now let the rest of us do the same. Do you complain when you see master doctors running around? No. Do you complain when you see master pistoleers running around? No. So why would you complain because there are Aces running around? What a lot of people are failing to realize is that pilot is another proffession. Not some GODLY thing to worship. It gives you the ability to go into space and do what you want up there and thats just cool. So Ace DOES mean something. It means you're a master pilot. But its called ACE to give the game some variety, not to make a certain proffession rare. Also did you notice how pilot costs no skill points? That proves that ANYONE can be pilot, and so they should be able to if they so wish. (considering they bought JTL of course
)
Now as for ganking, i know its going on, its happened to me, it happens to just about everyone doing thier missions. Is it fair? No, and it shouldn't even be happening, but due to a select few, they ruin the game play of others. "Well this is how i like to play" Fine, but do it where it is WANTED. Go to Deep Space. Then you would only be fighting masters! Talk about a REAL and EVEN fight. Oh but thats not you're playstyle is it. You like to attack the underdog becuase you can. Well all i can say to you is learn some respect for other players and grow up. SHAME ON YOU!
Then there is the other argument of "well once you're master what are YOU going to do?" Well, i'll help people in my guild, as well as other players, achieve thier goals. Could be master, could be a mission. Heck it could be to just fly around and kill random spawns. Whatever it is thats cool by me. There is also something called Role Playing. If new content isn't available, make your own! My guild is doing just that by making our own "guild squadron" with the pilots and we'll be making our own content, possibly with other players who are willing. We may even have some of our opposing faction FRIENDS (thats in bold to show that not everyone is factionists) join in to make our OWN epic battle. NOW THAT would be fun. I would also PvP (once its fixed...one shot kills are NOT PvP, its whoever gets the first shot in) but only when i WANT to. Becuase PvP is OPTIONAL. You can CHOOSE to either participate, or not, and that is what makes this game cool. because you can CHOOSE what YOU want to do. (and if i recall, after installing SWG for the first time i remember it saying "...and now for the greatest saga ever...YOURS!"
PvP is not a bad thing. Its an ADDITION to this game that you can either participate in or not. I sometimes like it, and othertimes i would rather just go PvE. And because thats what this game is based on i should be able to. Enough said there.
So what i still can't seem to understand is WHY CAN'T WE ALL GET ALONG! I mean think about it. Are we so full of hate for each other that we would rather destroy this game instead of play along with it? I know some people will never be happy no matter WHAT happens, and if they seem to hate it so much, why do they still play? I dont' know...not sure if they do either. But what im trying to say is, learn respect for other people's way of playing, and perhaps they will give you respect back. You can't buy respect...you have to earn it.

Good post.
You are absolutely right, and I totally agree with you in many of your arguments... we shouldn't be fighting about this, this "issue" is tearing the community apart for little or no purpose at all...
There is a VERY high probability that this whole KESSEL issue will be resolved once the developers can find a way for the PvE players and PvP players to get along in harmony in that sector without tearing eachother's throats out...
It is about time somebody with some sense came to this forum to advocate peace... and I totally stand by their policy... "Lets stop fighting, and lets get along, it is after all... just a game, and everyone deserves the opportunity to play it the way they want to..."
Now I can understand that the PvP players have been struck with a blow because Kessel will no longer be PvP, and I feel for you as well, but in the end... this can only strengthen the game itself, because the Developers will come up with a new scenario which will be even better for all of us...

I cannot agree more...
Tried a few posts and replies... But once again I return to place: Never argue with idiots, they will just bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.
I give up on telling 'forced PvP' and 'PvP zones' are not same things, 'Keep Pilot Rare' arguments are no different than 'Keep Jedi rare' arguments and pointless. People payed the game to become master of their proffession as well. To enjoy every ship they want.
This is a game and community itself cannot get out of 'selfishness'
What can I say.. Human nature..

There is no such thing as a stupid question. However, there are just a lot of inquisitive idiots.

A noble post upon deaf ears.
I think the master missions should have just been moved to another location, or an option to master pilot by just gaining the ton of xp required.
But removing the PvP from Kessel was chosen... And now we've got another PvE zone, much like the other 7 PvE zones. I might go there once to master pilot but chances are now I won't bother to go there again, unless I'm helping someone else master pilot. What a waste of a good zone.

I think the people who are fine with the game (apparently the majority) are out playing the game and not on these boards. *Most* of the time thecomplainers are the only ones we hear on the boards, because they're the only ones on the boards. Why I am here? Joystick snapped off in my hand during a hard manuever in my X-Wing

As it was said... This is a noble post, among deaf ears...
Your point has gotten across, but it will only really be "Heard" by the people willing to listen...
For some people, when you try to debate with them, they actually think you are "ARGUING" when you really may not be. I believe this post is very good, and you make some compelling arguments, but the chances that any whiner will actually listen to us is very unlikely... It was also said that most players who are in game ...NEVER... visit these forums at all.
I wouldn't be surpised right now that a mass majority of online playersDONT EVEN KNOW that Kessel will be changed into a PvE zone on Tuesday, and when it happens they will be shocked and confused, and wonder why they heard nothing about it. If they checked these boards they would know, that is why I believe that the board community is "truly" more ahead of the players because we have a good idea of what may be comming, and what isn't going to be changed.

IMO, the devs really need to work on their communications skills.
